&
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90542.0 = the cam cover gaskets.

Neither are difficult to do, but bite the bullet & use Vauxhall gaskets, as expensive as they may seem, they'll last whereas pattern gaskets won't.

I did mine recently mate, not as hard as i thought it would be,the guides and advice on this forum were spot on so if you have a few tools and a spare afternoon why not have a go yourself.
I did it in stages using the search facility on the forum when i got confused or stuck.the bulk of the time was spent cleaning the breathers and removing the oil from the plug wells.
 :y good luck :y

Firstly identify the problem and then fix it.

What happens is the breathers get blocked, so the oil vapour can't flow, so pressure builds up and the cam cover seals go and the oil flows out the cam covers and into the plug wells which will cause missfiring.

First thing, fix the problem. Cleaning the breathers, looks a pain cause you can't see the assembly, but if you remove the scuttle its easily got to. Cleaning the breathers, well there's a guide in the maintenance section, even a quick way of doing it http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=98512.0 .Then you got to do the cam cover gaskets, a bit involved, but its just unbolting things and putting them back after, nothing special.

I am doing the very same operation this weekend to mine, as well as replace the cam shaft seals and timing belt kit. Its a bit involved, but not that difficult, there's a cambelt DVD available for £3 inc which shows how easy it is to work in these engines.

As regards oil catching fire, I think it would have to fall onto the exhaust to be hot enough.

Cheers Ken
