Got the compressor fired up, windy gun didn't touch it either (though was only on the small hose, couldn't be bothered to get the big hose out).  Breaker bar in the end, although that took some effort to loosen them :o

I went to use my (air) windy gun for the first time earlier only to find that all it does is go hisssssss, and the air wrench isn't much better .. must not be getting enough air down the hose (it does seem a bit weak for what's reading as 7bar on the compressor and external regulator)  :-\ Must try and figure that out.

...... Must try and figure that out.

What size hose are you using? My windy gun struggles if I try to use the 8 / 10 ??? coiled hose, but is OK if I use a reinforced 1/2" hose

I think it's 10mm but it might actually be 8mm on the shorter hose (I've a 5m length of clear hose with quick release fittings and a 20m reely drum with quick release fittings) - I'll check next time I go out, might have to upgrade the hoses, although the quick release tail on the gun isn't much more than 8mm ID, I'm sure.

That or persuade my Dad to visit next time he's back in the country - he works with this kind of thing for his day job :)

The snap on battery impact gun are fantastic no two ways about it. It will undo any crankshaft bolt when its fully charged.

+1 to that ,mine is by far the best impact gun I've ever owned and there's been a few over the years, bloody expensive though.

 ........

I take it you weren't on the other end of the breaker bar then  ::) ::) ::) I would've found it hard to believe they were THAT tight if you were  ::) ::) ::)  ;) ;)
I'd already jacked it up (intending to use the gun), so one handed, trying to wedge a bit of wood in between tyre and drive with other.  Defo way tighter than I would have liked, had to lean on it a bit to undo it. Although my longest bar is only 24"

It was all 10 bolts on the front of the MV6 that were very tight.  Now I know I torqued them myself last summer, when I changed the pads.

I noticed when changing wheels yesterday that the fronts took a lot more effort to undo than the rears. Some connection with the extra heated generated by the front brakes ?  :-\
Ive never owned a windy gun (or the electric equivelant) - im feeling like Im missing out on something now. :D

Try grease. Instead of that copper shit shite.

Yes yes I know we have had this conversation before, but really, try grease instead. Get the shoulders of the bolt as well. :)

And yes Phil, snap on allow pay on drip. All a bit too easy. ;D

It really depends on how much you will use it. £248 is cheaper than the one I bought.
I bought a Sealey battery impact gun for about £120, which after about a month the battery was not keeping charge, plus it started playing up. I got it repaired at Sealey but after a few weeks it would not undo particularly well.
The Snap On gun I paid three times more for, however it takes everything you throw at it. I have had it nearly a year. It still holds its charge, undoes anything. You can tighten even small bolts as the trigger is so accurate (not all or nothing)..
For my money its the way to go if you would use an impact gun.

I did that initially too - started turning, got a couple of full turns on it (hard on my compressor as the dual outlets are right where your knuckles need to be turning the regulator.. 1/64th turn, ouch, 1/64th turn, ouch.. ;D) and then thought "Am I doing this the ..."  :-[
