fitting rear parking sensor ecu
« on: 04 February 2012, 18:57:02 »

Hi guys, Just bought an excellent irmscher rear bumper from Serek :y Thanks mate well happy.
It has parking sensors in it and he has given me the control unit aswell with part loom. Only 2 wires have been cut and i am assuming these are the ones for the speaker or buzzer which was not included. does anyone know how to wire it in and what sort of buzzer or speaker do i need to get it working? it is a bosch parkpilot. part number is either 0 263 004 011 or 5104 47856 020208. it has a brown and brown/red twin wire in a black sleeve which has been cut, a 6 pin plug which i assume goes to the sensors, a black wire with female spade connector a black/white wire with male spade connector a red wire (which i assume is the +12v input :-\) this has a male spade connector in a white plug housing and a brown wire (which i assume is the -12v input :-\) this has a round connector on the end which looks like it bolts to the car body.
Can somebody please help me by letting me know what needs to be connected where. and what type of buzzer i need.
Thanks  :y  :)

A few members have had success using a standard tweeter speaker with the park pilot system. As you say, the 2 wire loom that's been cut is for the speaker... brown/red wire to speaker +ve, brown wire to speaker -ve.

The ecu should be mounted behind the panel in the near side of the boot.  The brown wire with the metal hoop should be fixed to a chassis earth point, of which there is one but the NSR light cluster.  The red wire (which should contain an in-line fuse) needs to be connect the +ve feed to the reversing lights.  This is a black/white wire and can be found in the loom that runs to the rear of the car right by where the ecu is placed.

Thanks for that twiglet. No inline fuse on red wire :o. So the black and the black/white wire are not used then? Will try that with the tweeter aswell. sounds like a good idea as they are small and easy to hide.  :y

Hmmmm... just re-read your original post, and I'm questioning myself now...

I don't have access to any wiring diagrams right now (although someone else might), but I would like to confirm the connection for definately before you connect it up.  I'll check the one in my car tomorrow for you, and post up my findings, unless someone else can help in the mean time.  I'm sure that all the wires should be connected, and there should definately be an in-line fuse somewhere though.

Ok thanks that would be helpful. :y Inline fuse is no problem i can put that in myself. do you know what size fuse it should be? There is a fuse like part on it but its not a fuse its a resistor connected between 2 pink wires :o, not quite sure what this is so i not going to touch it. :y I will check back tomorrow  :)

Excellent Thanks alot can see it much more clearly. :y
Now i have another question.
Does anybody have a volume control fitted to their parkpilot as on the diagram there are two wires for this which i have on mine on the main plug into the ecu. connector 13 and 23 on mine these are black(13) and black/white(23). I have read other posts about the parkpilot and saw something on one of them about connecting two wires together and this makes it quieter. does anybody know if this is what is meant by volume control or do i have something missing?  :-\

If the black/black-white wires in the little cluster besuide the 430 ohm test connector are connected the volume is "low" , the those wires are left dis-connected the volume is "normal"

HTH  :)
