Hi all

my 2.6 facelift runs very cold according to the gauge barley gets to 75 even on a decent run, thought maybe stuck thermosat but will look at that on a warmer day but while changing the outside air temp sensor i noticed the 2 front rad fans are on constantly (rear one off) is this normal or could this be part of the reason it runs so cool?

I did have the heater at full blast but i had only just started the car from cold.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

No the A/C was off

Try pulling the plug on the thermoswitch just below the top radiator hose. If the fans stop, that's your problem, if not could be one or more of the relays may be at fault,  K26, K52 and K28 in the engine bay fuse box. You can try pulling them see if that cures it. As for low temp. reading, try starting from cold and feeling the top radiator hose as it warms up. It should stay cool until the engine reaches normal operating temperature, then suddenly become quite hot.

If it warms up gradually with the engine, it's a sign that the thermostat has failed.

Miggy has a similar problem,engine temp won't go over 40 degC but with C/C in AUTO mode
Both front fans are running continuously when engine is running
I've now found out that when I press the ECO button this stops the 2 front fans instantly
This now allows the engine coolant temp to rise up to between 80 to 90 deg
Think this can't be quite right so may need further investigation
Will have to see how it goes
About to go on a longish journey I'll give it a good try out

Because you`re switching the A/C off. Front fans run with A/C on

Had a look today all if fine, climate was on auto so turned it off and re engaged the eco button and fans went off, also ran car at about 2000revs top rad hose stayed cold then after 5mins or so started getting hot reasonablly qucikly  so i guess and it is a guess lol that the thermosat is ok but still dont understand why temp gauge shows so low? Its not end of the world as heater works reasonably well especially when its on Hi just one of those things that will bug me until i figure it out.

Earth the blue wire from the sensor, the gauge should go to HOT, if not gauge is fuabr'd. If it does, change the sensor or at least clean up connections.

Right at the back of the engine in the middle of the V

It's the one towards the left of middle, the other temp sensor talks to the engine ECU
