There is a video on YouTube showing a "drop" test between the iPhone 4S and the SII.

The first test was a drop from waist height, the second test was from shoulder height, and the third test is from shoulder height with the phone face down.
The iPhone was f***ed on the first go while the SII suffered nothing more than a few grazes after all 3 tests.

My colleague can tell you all about gayPhone drop tests. In his case from about 6" onto a wooden desk. FAIL! ::)

Mine (admittedly in a cheap plastic case in the case of the corporate one and a billet aluminium CNC machined case in the case of my own) have both bounced off all sorts of surfaces with no damage at all.. desks, carpeted floors, wood floor beside the bed when I'm half asleep, various surfaces in the car; they've even been in my pocket while I lay on the floor under the car..

I have the HTC wildfire with a soft silicone type case on the sides and back, and a stick on screen protector. Dropped off my suitcase in Bournemouth airport fell under wheels of suitcase and I dragged it on tarmac for about 10feet before realising there was a problem. Result: dirt on silicon case which wiped off, and phone not damaged at all. I was fairly impressed with it for that. Allthough I am easily pleased.

been stood outside in -10 using iphone 3GS , no problem at all,   (apart from freezing my nadgers off)

ditto dropped mine  numerous times....   not so much as a scratch....

but then  that's WHY i bought a nice leather wallet-case thingy../

coz i'm not an idiot that believes hi-tech electronics to be indestructible.
