Mondeo V6 ST24
« on: 07 February 2012, 14:59:34 »

Amazing result - my VX dealer did MOT on my son in law's Mondeo ST24 (R Reg 1997) and we were expecting issues but it passed after replacing headlamp bulb  - total cost including MOT £36. Unbelievable. There is a string of advisories but none too severe. An issue i with old Mondeo's is that when you move front seat you sometimes get airbag light on which then goes off after a few days. Up til now this is not a fail issue but next year will be apparently.

Result, I take it you mean the light goes off after a few days and not the airbag! ;)

seat pretensioner wiring fault, take seat out or as far forward, disconect wiring and push a pin down the outside of the yellow female conectors to close them up a little, reconect and refit seat and will sort fault, hope this helps you

Id still be bloody careful. The smallest amount of static can set airbags off. I've seen loads go off they're bloody horrible things

if you were closer id do for you, i had 4 mondeos at one time and everyone ended up with the problem, light flashes 3 times then stops and cycles like that, never had a airbag deploy on me yet so must be doing right

very kind - having got the MOT through I suspect that he may now try and off load the Mondeo and get something else - Insignia diesel is top of sensible list but he has another list which is crazy.

I think the Mondeo he has is solid and the few jobs that are required shoud be done. Fuel consumption is only downer on this and a switch to something more economical would save £80 a month - but that saving does not justify major capital expense in my view (but does justify modest car replacement cost).
