Looking for a Suspension Kit... Any ideas?
« on: 09 February 2012, 12:40:30 »

Hi!

I´m gonna change the shock absorbers of my Omega, and i´m looking for  a sport suspension kit (shock + springs).
At the time i´ve found two kits, one from Bilstein (900 euros) http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/522857/vauxhall/bilstein-b12-suspension-kits/b90-65-026-04-22.html  and the other from FK Automotive (400 euros).
Both kits reduce the heigh of the car in 20-30 mm. Well...  Is this excesive? The tires of my model are 225/16/55.
Really i´m very, very missed... Any opinion at respect ?
Thanks!

Bilstein
thats the way to go and with the eibach springs thats even better  :y

but be aware though that the advert states bilstein b12 whereas lower down it states you will get bilstein b8's  :-\

your tyre size shouldnt cause a problem with that set up on  ;)

it all depends exsactly what you want....

25/30mm is near perfect drop as not to hit all the tarmac humps or ground out exhausts etc

ive been hunting for last 2 months for a lowered estate suspension kit...

the bilstein B12kit is the name for a complete kit setup not type of damper fitted.. it will be either B6 or B8 shockabsorbers

Bilstein is 30mm & will work fine as they are indead the best on market but a FIXED 30mm drop all round but some people do say that the B8 shock absorbers that are in the kit are a bit hard not very comfortable.... B8 stiff, B6 softer but uprated, B4 standard omega sports MV6 dampers.... (bilstein keep this kit in stock) i can get it for £608.00gbp

the FK Auto kit is FULLY ADJUSTABLE coilovers making the car ride from 20mm minimum upto 120mm max so you can regulate ride hight front to rear if like me you like the car level..?? i can get it for £400gbp

But there is a cheeper FK Kit that only adjusts the front struts leaving rears fixed ridehight make sure you buy the full adjustable setup if going down this route....

i myself am buying the FK coilovers but the factory is out of stock parts as they make them to order i CAL'NT get mine until available end of feb/mid march
now i know its a cheep kit but the great part is!

That they use the same identical parts ordered in from a company 4times more exspensive just rebranded as a cheeper kit under a different name FK Coilovers!
so they can always sell equipment kind of coning people to buy a more exspensive kit but they are both near identical...

(Like buying a PIRELLI tyre under a SEAT brand name both the same tyre same rubber same factory but one 75% cheeper!)

But if you lower the front anymore than 30mm you will need shorted front anti rollbar links to make antiroll bar work,

I hope this helps...??

in Basic turms if you want a fixed 20/30mm kit go for the bilstein & eibach they are no1!

if you want to be able to tune adjust your ride hight go for the Fk coilovers but they do take ages to setup!!

i will post comment again when my fk coilovers turn up!!

tyre size will be fine for a 30mm drop on 225 55 16s

Bilstein B4 or B6's and Eibach springs will give you a good setup on the omega  :y

Drops 20 - 30mm iirc

A few of the lads on here have that setup.

Don't forget to have your suspenion geometry setup afterwards  :y

Hi!

I think that finally i'll purchase the Fk High Tec kit for the Omega. I´ll hope that the kit won´t give a hard response (in view of comfortability)  at the car, but i´m aware that the car won´t be comfortable like now. But i don´t care... since i have the Lexus IS with sport suspension kit, i feel the Omega´s response too soft and "unsecure"
Zippy... Are you sure that the kit will be available at March? You did contact with the dealers? In my country (Spain) i can´t find it (it´s out of stock too).

Thanks for the information to all!

Hi im getting mine from a company in northern ireland caller NI Coilovers they've contacted FK directly & thats what they told them...

because the kit isnt asked for very often for an estate/caravan they have to custom make it from scratch...

but the parts req to make the kit are out of stock & they should be in by last week in feb & made by mid march,

people will tell you there not in stock because its no longer a off the shelf kit it has to be made to order

if you have a facebook page find NI Coilovers (in ireland) hit like & post a request on there wall, i can also call the lad there & request 2 kits if required....

What car do you have..... engine size... & year of manufacture......
