Up on Honister Pass near Keswick we were treated to a display by presumably the RAF in Eurofighters, blasting up and down the valleys.  Jeez those things can turn.  At one point, one came within 100yrs of us (we were halfway up a mountain), banks at 90 degrees - you could clearly see pilot. Amazing!

The eurofighters are all post 2001 - wonder what their C02 figure is.

Ahhhhhhhhh......bliss!; `just similar to my home`s area where the F-15`s and Typhoons practice low-flying (daily) at altitudes below that of my valley-side house.....`could sit and watch`em all day  :y
What a noise the Eurofighter makes on full afterburners though!  :o

After the first run, I nearly had to visit the launderette :o (and I don't think it had the afterburners on)...

Pity the rather things have no truely effective weapons systems yet......fantastic Rolls developed engine though....should be even better if they get the vector thrust working.

I just picture the pilots shaking thier fist at the enemy and shouting 'bugger off'

Aye, obviously 'bugger off' will be said in a very british way, old boy.

Having spent most of my school holidays around Lakenheath and Mildenhall (including the night they bombed Libya), I know fighters are manuoverable, but those eurofighters in the valleys were something else!

Yes but, unless they can make them an effective strike aircraft then there about as much use as a stunt plane but less manouverable!  :y

Probably irrelevent, as after the media backlash after Afgan and Iraq and the 'bring our boys home' brigade (forgetting the rights or wrongs of those particular conflicts), I doubt any government will have the gumption to use them in anger anyway, justified or otherwise  >:(

Not for the first time i know but i adore Cumbria/Northumberland. If i won the lotty a small barn conversion would be fine for me but with plenty of land/outbuildings to put my cars & bikes in. [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

I'm used to that at home/work. Moving from Croydon to Lincolnshire i get called  a soft southern shandy swilling poof. Cockney C*nt all the cliche's but it's all in fun. Made some good friends in the 8 years i've been living with a CHEAP mortgage! ;)

Hmm. Beautiful part of the world. Have done Wrynose Pass in the Omega and the MX5. Must find an excuse to take the Westfield over it. It has a LSD after all. Be rude not to.  ;D
