2003 2.2 petrol CDX Valuation
« on: 24 March 2008, 15:33:46 »

Does anyone know what a 2003 2.2 manual Omega CDX with leather and colour satnav &  sunroof is worth.  Its got under 60k on the clock... Its pretty good condition with new tyres all round.
Its a lease car thats coming to the end of its lease & can be bought or given back...

Thanks

the residual was 5k after 3 years but i kept it for an extra 2...but they say the price cant be changed as thats what the contract price was.
They wont recalculate for a 5 year old car  :(

Remind them that (a) the car's getting old, 5 years, and (b) its in the new high road tax band, so its value dropped drastically after the last budget. Then offer £1000 cash !.

remind them how much the price of petrol has increased in the last 2 years and do a bit of research on how much they would get for it if they sell it elsewhere (i.e. auction ?). ;)

I tried haggling but they said that they cant adjust the price due to tax reasons or something... It will go in the auctions if I dont buy it and the girl on the phone said that itll prob go for less than 5k in the auction but theres nothing she can do to adjust the price to me.... I had it from new and I love it. I had the same car before this one but a 2l without sat nav...and this one is one of the last ever made...
I never really seen another cdx with the colour nav and manual, so Im wonderin if Ill ever get one again...
Then again a 300C looks like a good replacement... :)

Take it up the chain - are they really happy to let it go to auction andf get no more than 2500?

Remind them of that - easy way out for them - or follow it to auction and buy it back for a fraction of what it would cost otherwide

excellent idea.if you can do a bit of digging/bribing to find out which auction they will use you could probably pick it up quite cheap  :y

Thats what Ill probably do...follow it to the auction and see what it goes for there... But i think book value is 2-3k, but looking online some lesser models go for over 6k... Thats why I wanted to know a realistic price for a same speced model...

since the budget and with recent fuel increases cars like this will lose value fast.i wouldnt take too much notice of book prices etc;......are the cars you are looking at actually selling for those prices or is that what they are being advertised at ?

Look at it another way. If you like the car, know its history and are planning on keeping it then try and get it no matter what. I paid £5000 for one of the last 2.2's and don't feel cheated at all. My company have just given me a 57 Volvo V50 worth £15,000 and I prefer my Omega. Even at top book price you get alot of car for the money.

I would not be driving it for work cos if i bought it id have to insure and maintain it myself, which isnt economically viable. It would be kept for when I leave and need a car. Im gonna get another company insured & maintained car, so theres a good chance it would just end up sitting for who knows how long.
I dont know of another car that appeals, apart from the 300c chrysler, that I dont know whether I could get thru the company scheme. I test drove audi A6, Li220 ,& x-type but didnt really like any of them for one reason or another...
Im digressin here, but whats a good Omega alternative...?
