Caravan ready to start the new season.
« on: 12 February 2012, 15:02:01 »

Hi all, just checked the van over, all ready for our first rally next weekend. It's been a long winter without our weekends away,so if any of my friends on here find themselves behind a caravan next weekend don't  be shy and give us a wave as you go past.

Also, don't be tempted to pull into any lay-bys and let people pass, you'll never get back out. This is especially important on long uphill windy stretches with single lane traffic and nowhere else to pass!

Get a picture of your van up!

We're also ready and looking forward to another season! :y :y :y

Our new 'van immediately after collection recently.
Just had a mover fitted to save on clutch wear ............. and matrimonial strife! :D

Here's what it replaced, a 2005 Bailey Ranger 500/5:

Leaving Gowerton Caravan Club Site behind our former TD Estate in Spring 2009.
Whoever buys this 'van (currently on sale for just under £7k), will get a real beauty, believe me! ;)

And that replaced this little gem, a comparatively rare Bailey Ranger 440/4:

Seen behind our first Omega - a 'mint' 2.0 GLS Auto; at Sedgemoor in 2004.

What's with this "start of the season" ???  :)

We were out this weekend for our 3rd trip of the year so far .. :) as well as being in the 'van for New Year. Temperature outside on Friday night was -11 C .. inside the 'van it never dropped below 20 C ... this new "wet" Alde heating is fantastic .. :)

Very good piss-up social with a 3 course meal on Saturday ... drank far too much Laphroaig ... but who cares ...

Only downside is both 'van and car are filthy and need cleaning ....  :(

I'll get some piccies of the new van and stick 'em up once its cleaned ......  :)

I'm stuck on both sides of the coin here. I'm not a typical "vanner". The thought of going away for the sake of it to look at local ruins & visit teashops makes me feel suicidal...let's face it this is what many "vanners" do. I'd rather save money...not cheap with fuel & site fees...& stay in bed watching Dave on freeview.

That said when it comes to an OOF or classic car meet i love a long weekend away in the van, so much easier than tenting & you get some time on your own without climbing under a sweaty tent. I'll be getting another one soon. 8)

My season ends Dec 31st and starts Jan 1st :y
Wareham Forest, where I keep mine in storage, is an all year round site :y  Can't beat bashing the water container, or the awning to get snow and ice off...... ;D ;D ;D ;D :y
