Nostalgia is not what it used to be. ;D

BTW, I'm young enough to remember having a Thames Trader Matchbox tow truck;)

Me too! ;D

And me..... :y

Just for you Vamps, here's an example of the real thing:

Complete with open-back 'chariot style' body and ubiquitous Harvey Frost crane.

Now I'm pretty sure that Mr Red Baron will be able to comment favourably on these two leviathons:

From the pristine Sayers of Newbury fleet - a 6x6 AEC Militant, successor to the 4x4 AEC Matador.
Photo taken at the 1988 AEC Society Rally at Nottingham's Wollaton Park.

And another fine example in full military guise:

At the 1995 West Somerset Railway Steam Fayre, Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton.

Over to you Jon ....................  ;D

Unfortunately Vamps, I can't seem to find a photo of Bedford J.

What about a 'TK' instead? ..... and from your neck of the woods!:

those were the days, if you broke down proper truckers stopped and gave you hand, atllas not anymore. i started driving trucks when i was21yrs of age and the trucks you see at the shows, from the oldest to the newest [up 2003] ihave driven including a few of the yank rigs in the states. the trans-conti was indeed a good truck, but stopping while loaded was a bit of a problem. 44yrs a trucker and I would'nt change a thing.
