I know this has been raised before, but I can't find any threads sorry. What are the pros and con of fitting these 'high Performance' filters. I remember reading (here) that over-oiled washable ones can mess the MAF about. I appreciate that no filter swap is going to change the car into a fire breathing dragster. But with for example Pipercross saying airflow is increased by up to 30%  can fuel figures be improved and perhaps a degree more of urgency on pulling away. My car is now a 2003 2.6L  Elite Estate which after putting up with that ailing tractor (2.5TD) I had before is a joy to drive.

usally best to to stick to oem airfilter and change it every 6 months instead

K&N filters or the like do make the car roar nicely, but uusually they will draw warm air not cold like needed.

0% falls inside the description "up to 30%".

Not seen one yet that performs better than a new GM one...  ...and I see a fair few Omegas.

To prove I put my money where my mouth is, I use GM ones in both mine...

Thanks for the opinions I think I'll be sticking with oem and changing it regularly. Also I notice the the filter for my 2.6L is the same as the specified for my mates 3.2L, so it's not exactly on the edge of it's envelope in my car.

Fitted my 2.2 with a K..N..air filter   sounds better cant say more that that..though it was fitted 2years ago it has never caused me any problem with M.A.F. at all....

Do you clean and oil it regularily ? - if you do the MAF is probably having a hard time of it due to the oil residue.
If you dont,the filter wont be doing much filtering,so the engine internals will be getting a hard time instead.

Im assuming that all K&N filters are the same idea - need cleaning and oiling periodically ?
