...... and the black/yellow brake light wire won't work cos it's fed from a 'relay' base up front behind the glove box. :y (pre-empting the question  ::) ::))

Pre-empting a question I would never of asked as it means nothing to me ???

I'm just going to get the car ready for the T bar to be fitted, doing some manual prep to save me labour costs.

Ref the "relay" then, what is that about Andy?   May not be doing the work, but interested in how it all goes together :y

The socket is intended for a plug from a towbar loom to be plugged directly into it, all other wires connect directly to the indicators, side lights & rear fogs. The brake light though is wired via a base up front behind the glove box that extends the car's brake light check to your caravan/trailer.
Search (best via Google) for something like omegaowners trailer check control and you'll find loads of references to it from the site. Or just wire direct to the back of the brake light.  ::)
If it's being done at Acme Towbar fitters it's unlikely they'll use the check control relay anyway cos they'll do it for the easiest/cheapest.

So unless I want the check brake available, just wire it up direct to the brake light wiring in the boot?

Just refurbished the towbar and electrics over the past few weeks on my mini-facelft Omega.

Finally found the socket base for the brake light failure sensor/relay!!!

I bought the sensor over 13 years ago (part no 90463123) but never got round to fitting it. My local Vauxhall dealer/parts dept/service dept were less than useful about where it should go and there was no useful forums to help out at that time.

Like you I had just wired the towbar brake lights into adjacent brake light and that worked ok.

Also decided to fit a 4 pin Flasher relay (part no 90506697, Vauxhall's wanted £39.86 but got a copy off ebay at £9.00) and now have towbar warning lamp on the instrument cluster instead of that annoying buzzer.

Everything works so well pleased. Only took 13 years!!!

You can say that again. Nearly put my back out looking for the little devil. :(

Like most things, once you know where it is then it's easy in the future. :y
