It looks like the cyclist swerved first, to me. No excuse for trying to kill the bloke, mind.

Though whenever I think of cyclists, I always think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s0XsulDXtk (Monkey Dust was a funny show..)

after having one of these 2 wheeled idiots threw my windscreen and writing off my veccy gsi i have no time for them. Especially after getting a six month ban for reckless driving even though the idiot jumped off the pavement. My only solace is that i hospitalized the tinker for 3 months.

Before you go slating cyclists, try being one for a week.  It'll give you a different perspective on the subject.

Oh, and we are not all law breaking lunatics.  Most of us obey the rules of the road. :y

Lies, lies I tell you! *rants like a mad man* ;) ;D

You do see some utter plonkers on bikes, though (just as you do in cars) - I saw one yesterday; wearing all black, riding a black bike, in the dark, with no lights, on the road. As he squeezed up the inside of a line of traffic the first you knew of him was when he was beside you, appearing as if from nowhere, like a ninja.

He's begging to get knocked off, riding like that - at least have one of those poxy flashing LED lights ffs so I stand half a chance of seeing you! (he did have a dimly glowing rear light, incidentally, just nothing on the front)

They get my back up too, giving us a bad name  >:(

That said I have 2 high power flashing led front and rear lights, a high vis vest and reflective strips on my clothing.  The lights are on day or night yet still I am invisible to motorists.  I was knocked off twice last year, both times the drivers were either on the wrong side of the road or not giving way at a priority to on coming vehicles feature.

It works both ways and until you've experienced being in the saddle there is not a lot one can say  :y

To be fair, I did (once upon a time) ride a bike (for recreation and to get to work & back). Granted, as a quick glance at my stature would confirm, it was a long time ago ;D

It was hairy, at times, even on quiet country roads. Although the worst situation I found myself in was having "Get off the road you fat bastard" yelled at me by a car full of pikeys.

[edit] I still think Cyclists should be required to have insurance and pay road tax, though ;)

Road tax on your car doesn't count ;) Otherwise I should only pay road tax on one of my two cars on the same basis.. :P

Good that you have insurance, though!

Unfortunately Guys there's no such thing as road tax it was abolished in 1937, its a vehicle tax and doesn't help to pay for the upkeep of roads that all comes out of national and local taxes.. So cyclists and motorists all pay for the roads..

Hm, ok. Registration plates and a license, then. At least a stab at weeding out the morons, that way, and some way of tracking the ones who are :)
