Thankyou Vauxhall for ruining my MIG
« on: 21 February 2012, 15:09:39 »

Well got off the M1 last night, stopped at the lights, pulled away & tractor mode with "check automatic gearbox" warning on :'( :'( :'( :'(
Took the plugs out to find no1 plug had exploded from the centre out!!!!!
This means the electrode & bits of ceramic have gone into the engine & bent the valves???? Is it ruined!??????? How much will it cost to be fixed???????  :-\ :-\ :-\
Thanks Vauxhall crap plugs!!!!!!!!! Wish I'd got the NGK Iridium ones again!
Cheers Paul

I woul be looking for a snake scope camera type thing personally.it can be inserted through the plug hole and gives an image on screen of the inside of the cylinder. If you can locate one of those from somewhere you can do an initial inspection for damage without stripping the top end.
If you can see the bits of plug in there, you may be able to fish them out, with luck & patience ?
Something similar to this I would imagine.

Was thinking about that option saw one in screwfix for £150  :y
I am thinking whats the point of looking as the car feels like it's running on 2 cyl's so there must be damage,,,,,,,,,,?????? It takes 2mins for the car to hit 20mpoh :-X

In that case it sounds like damage has already been done.Tell VX your not paying them £90 odd quid to find out what damage has been done though. Why should you ?

Well trailered the car to vauxhall lets see what they say. Have bought another MIG to keep me going.
Would be a shame to see mine go a CDX with black leather was a nice combo for me  :-\

Had the car just over 2 years. Recent new pads allround, front discs, battery, MAF & Cam sensor, 4 new springs & dampers, wishbones, droplinks, steering idler, 4 track rod ends last month :'(, exhaust last year, new breather hoses, the car drove like a brand new motor, loved it  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
