Opinions Welcomed on Civic 2.2CDTi
« on: 23 February 2012, 20:28:48 »

Looking to get a newer motor for SWMBO as her Leon is getting on and she complains about driving the Elite.  Could push to £12K for a sub 30K miler.

All the reviews for the small family hatches rave about the civic - are they really that good?  ???

The 0-60 is claimed at 8.6 and still over 50mpg.  The boot's nearly as big as a mondeo and there are plenty of toys on most models.

I've never bought Japanese before, but would this be a good start?

Ive had a 1.8 petrol as a company car. Hated the interior at first and none of the buttons were placed where you expect them to be but it quickly grew on me. Quality feel, quite roomy and nice to drive.

I would imagine the build quality would be superb,as Japanese and Honda in particular usually is.

Couple of comments ........

Firstly, I had one for a while, a 2.2 Diesel. It went well but I thought it was noisy around town - not the engine noise itself but PAS, alternator etc were all a bit too audible for my liking.

These were excellent value on the BT company car scheme - take a look @ their disposal web site as there are several there @ the moment. Ex BT cars are good value and have been well maintained a "trustworthy" source.

Click on the "buy it now" tab for list of cars for sale.  :y All cars are available for viewing in Corby.

Thanks for the replies guys, Swindon might be an easier trip than Corby to pick up a bargain!

The room in the back is one of the appeals, to fit two small dustbin lids.

I'll keep my ears peeled on any test drives for unwelcome noise.  I did pause when I heard the fuel tank is under the front seats. Should I drive it in Hurt Locker gear!?!?! :o

Cheers again.

Still externally mounted, but under the front seats instead of the rear seats/boot as it is in most cars ;)

Panic not, just passing on a bit of useless information :D :D
