Envious or what. If only I was a few years younger. My brother emigrated to Florida back in 1981 and has lived the life of Riley ever since. No kids for him to worry about at the time (or since) and he despairs at the state this country has got itself in. Everytime he comes back here to visit he's pretty open mouthed at the way in which the countrys gone to rat-sh_t.

The only downside is medical bills. He works for a large hospital trust so his medical insurance is pretty good but his wife is quite poorly and it still costs a fortune even though they're only paying a small portion of the real bill. You need to factor that in to the "pro's and cons" but fair play to anyone that takes the plunge. I'm sure you'll have a better quality of life overall and as for the footy although you can't get to the real deal I think my brother gets better cable coverage of UK games than we do.

I speak from the already left UK point of view. Ok, it has to be said that I was young & free when I did it. But I had no job to come to, no permanent address to come to, and very little in the way of money. But I would say this...
Many of the posts are spoken in reverse so to speak. My point being, that comments like "when I am financially sorted I'll be off" or when I have things in order I'm outta here" should read something like....
"I am making plans to emigrate cos that's what I really want to do - now let me look at how I am going to acheive my goal"

If you wait for X,Y, or Z to happen first, it is less likely to happen than if you you say "I'm doing it, so let's plan". And the moment you start putting barriers up, it just ain't gonna happen for you. So start taking down the barriers guys - you only live once. As far as we know.
