Hello,

Never posted to any forum, but read plenty. Not clear about who to 'name' in messages, or whether this is new topic, thread or something else.

If I get a reply please tell me where I can start to detail key/alarm/central lock/boot issue (I've looked, but I cannot see precise fault replicated) 52plate 2.2 Auto

Hi Jim and welcome :y :y

I would suggest you post in Omega General Help or Electrical, depending on whether you think it's a mechanical or electrical problem. As you've added alarm to the list I guess it may well be electrical.

Just dive in and get posting! If you manage to get it in the wrong section one of the nice admins will move it later for you :y Give us a good description of the problem and we'll try to help out :y

Welcome to the forum Jim :)

I shall move this 'thread' (think of it as a conversation) to the Electrical section, as I think thats where you will get the best replies :)

But can you reply with more details about what the problem is with your locking?

Thanks,
TheBoy

Door locks & boot release failed
« Reply #4 on: 28 February 2012, 21:45:05 »

It all started a year ago – the door locks & alarm would work normally (lock/unlock/arm/disarm) via the key fob, then, having used the fob to lock the car the alarm would randomly sound, sometimes at 3am, sometimes in the middle of the day. No pattern of weather, no evidence of attempted entry - sometimes wouldn’t play up for several weeks, then 3 times in 24 hours. Did all the simple stuff like checking the plungers, using other key fob, then got into routine of locking vehicle & drivers door via rear passenger door – fiddly but simple. THEN, 8 weeks ago key fob 1 would not open locked car at ASDA – wife unhappy at shops till Rescue man did the ‘force the key way past where you think you can’ routine. Key fob 2 had same zero effect. So now all door buttons have to be pressed up or down manually, and drivers door unlocked with key – there is no ‘open’ or ‘lock’ facility via either key fob. Boot no longer responds to either fob or button on dash; manual cable release now used for boot. Sometimes the alarm will go off as a car door is opened from outside – either fob ALWAYS turns the alarm off. What do I need, where can I get it fixed, and is diagnosis always via a Vauxhall dealer? I have trawled through loads of pages and cannot see a matching problem – there must be pcb, relay or other simple device that controls these things – all the fuses are intact under the steering column, and the engine compartment fuses seem in order, and no other equipment is ‘not functional’. The red light usually flashes in the vehicle following locking. The interior light now stays on for about 25 minutes. Please help/advise. 52 2.2 CD Auto. I like my Omega - it is the finest car I have ever had, even though it costs me - six years of costs.

OK, I'm suspecting 2 faults, possibly 3.

Alarm going off - unplug bonnet switch. If an estate, disconnect rear window break sensors

Boot - Does pressing button on dash open in? If not, suspect motor itself, or associated wiring (esp near the hinge mech)

Fobs not working - Either need resyncing, or faulty switches/batt holder.

Guessing you're a million miles from me, else I'd have a look for you.
