I had it a few years ago whilst stripping paint. Felt tightness in chest, assumed fumes so stopped & went for a lay down.
Woke up hour or so later & called an ambulance as it felt that bad. Got scanned & stuff at A&E, told me what it was, big box of anti-inflammatory pills & told to stay on sofa for 2 weeks.
As mentioned above, it's an inflammation of the sack the heart sits in, putting pressure on it. Was also told that in can be brought on by many things- in my case unknown, and that it may happen again, or not.

Don't mind admitting, I did think my number was up whilst laying in a&e, scared me sh*tless & certainly makes you think about things.

Full recovery, no adverse effects.

Hope the same applies to you mate, take it easy

Quite painful, never fatal. Rest is a good thing. Ibuprofen with some food regularly is your best friend. Usually caused by a virus. Diagnosed via symptoms, examination, ECG and sometimes blood tests.

Lasts about 5-7 days, a bit longer if you are unlucky.
