Central locking playing up.
« on: 27 December 2012, 17:26:49 »

Hi All

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Got a strange issue with my central locking. every time i unlock the car using the remote it locks itself again straight away... I have narrowed the problem down to the drivers door as using the key in the lock it stops doing it. Just wondering if this is a symptom of the micro switch failure in the motor or if its likely to be a sticking rod to the door pin as it doesn't seem to go all the way up when it unlocks. I can pull the pin up about 2mm by hand when its unlocked..

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

I'd go for a sticking linkage somewhere. My Senator use to do the same if locked via the boot lock (pre remote central locking from the factory) A good lubricating sorted it.

I'd say microswitch in the driver's side door motor, TBH. If the motor fails to lock the driver's side door, the CL ECU detects that the driver's door is unlocked and the others follow suit.

Thanks guys. I will try check the rods first and work my way back to the solenoid if that doesn't fix it.  :)

I'd have changed the switch while I was there. I've never seen a mechanical issue in those motors and I've refurbed many of them. Once the GT85 gets into the switches / motor the problem might be back. :-\

Every few months ( like most of the issues on my Elite) the central locking actsup - opposite to the OP's problem though - mine unlocks when you press the fob to lock.

I then open and shut all doors, boot and bonnet and it may cease - sometime I just lock it on the key and when I come back to it - all is ok. Just the sort of weird stuff that coms and goes and having owned it for 11 years you sort of predict the unpredicatability of Omegas - but don't panic!!

I will see how it goes for now. I have some work to do on the doors for my stereo when the weather gets better so if it lasts till then i will be happy  :)
