General Discussion Area / Lots of Video Tutorials coming i think
« on: 26 January 2008, 16:30:09 »
Just had a look at a post in the help section and it was about removing the dash, as most know this is a 5 to 10 min job to, but the member said he was going to go to VX to get them to remove his dash and replace a bulb. I think Alot of newbies and beginners dont realise how easy some jobs are even if there is a worded step by step tutorial, i remember reading a few tutorials with no picys when i started and i found it still quite daughting even with it being step by step

So At the Cambelt Meet next Month i think it mat be wise to film all these easy jobs one giving a newbie the confedence to tackle them and may be even harder jobs.

With any luck we can sto VX taking Money from people and help new members keep their hard earned cash for beer :)

A list of jobs like this would be nice off everyone, and would give me an idea which to do in prefence.

I think Breathers and Throttle Body would be good on both V6 and 4 Pot and the steering idler pop into mind

Thanks

General Discussion Area / Sony BetaCam Player/Recorder Needed
« on: 20 January 2008, 14:45:15 »
Right I am Stll Waiting on getting my camera as it has to be dropped off from Manchester, I have scrounged a PVV-3 Beta SP back these normally sell for upto 900 quid for a good one like i scrounged.

The problem i am going to have is until i can afford a Sony Betacam DVCAM or BETA SX back i am going to have to use Beta SP which is anologue but its still higher quality than DV sp but only if i can get the video signal into the computer via Component.
Component input cards are not a problem, The Problem i have is The PPV-3 BetaCam Sp Back Does not have Component Output the only way i can get Component Out is To Buy A Stand alone BetaCam SP Player, But With All Broadcast Stuff They are not cheap even second hand.

So If anyone knows of anyone wanting to get rid of a Sony BetaCam Sp Player ill Have It  :y :y :y

If I cant get one no Worries As i have all the Gear At Work To Do This

General Discussion Area / Valve Amps ? Who knows About Them
« on: 13 January 2008, 00:17:09 »
Right After Getting My Spendor BC1 BBC Monitor Speakers Today I have to say I am Shocked How Good They Are. Beautiful Mid Range and Highs, Bass is Alittle Bloated, But have found some information online to tighten that up.

Any How I have Been Reading These Speaker Really Come To life With a Valve Amp Most people are talking about Quad II Valve Amps And I nearly Fell off My chair when i saw the price of these things and you need two as they are only mono amps Gulp

So What I am wanting to know which valve amps are ok but not stupido money, and what do all these valve numbers mean like  EL34, ECC83, ECC81 i am guessing these are different kinds of Valves  :-/ :-/

I got a pair of old Celestion Ditton 15's For 30 Quid And I have to Say for 30 year old speakers there not bad at all.

But These Have Been Rewired And Modified By Having 2 8inch Drivers instead of the one and an ABS

But I Had a Bonus At Work To Day An old Store Room Had An Old Pair Of Spendor BC1A Speakers collecting Dust Asked a Manager If he wanted these old knacked speakers As I put it and he said Nope Chuck Them In The Bin Result As the Boot Of My Car is A BIN :)

Just Have To Sort A Nice Amp Out Now

General Discussion Area / Good Morning At Wim
« on: 03 January 2008, 13:25:37 »
Went back to See Tony This Morning to get my Fine tune done and I Told him that I was Pulling to the Left and he Looked at a Few Things and said my Left Wheel was slightly back from the right, So It Looks Like the Guy who Fitted my Wishbones did it wrong and knacked it when fitting it Grrrr

But while Tony was tapping in to his Computer i had a Good old pull on stuff under the car as its not often you get your car on Ramps without a mechanic any How found that my Idler Arm Has Vertical Play only a small amount but still play, so pointed this out to tony he said this could be the reason for the left wheel being out so ill be changing that quick sharp Oh The Joy  ;D

Also On my was back home popped into VX to see if they would refund my money on the crankshaft sensor i bought when i got the camshaft sensor also and it ended up being the Cam snsor that was knacked The Guy said Yep no problem we can do that for you which i was suprised at. Just had a look at the recipt and the guy refunded me for the Cam sensor at 47 quid instead of the crank sensor at 35 quid Bouns :) :) help towards the cost of a new idler Arm  :y :y

General Discussion Area / I Know i have been done
« on: 14 December 2007, 23:03:09 »
well its only taken me 1.5 years to work this out but i have been done on the mileage on my omega when i bought it.

I found an old recept in the back of the car from a garage in poland i think from some work that had been carried out on it back in 08/05 and the recorded mileage was 105080 km but i think this was 105080 miles as in europe they would not spend the time converting it from miles in to kilometers

if it is KM that would still make it 65,000 odd miles and when i bought the car it had 62,000 on the clock from its mot 2 months earlier it had 60,455.

so it went from what i can work out from 105080 km or miles in 08/05 to 60455 miles in 04/06

looks like i have been had and never knew it so i guess i am on either about 150,000 miles now or about 80,000 i have no way of telling  :-[

I have been wanting to rebuild the omega facelift in 3d for sometime now and i have been stuck on finding good blueprints with a top view.

This was all i could find on the omega

But i had a brain wave the 2001 Cadillac Catera is the same shape so found this with what i needed a top view

Does anyone have the same kind of blueprints of the omega facelift as there is for the cadillac catera, may be someone with EPC might find some nice clear top side front and back views of the omega facelift.

It would be so helpful if anyone does have some, if not ill have to use the cadillac catera blueprint which are preety close

Thanks
