Omega General Help / Re: Door deadlocked, won't unlock!!!
« on: 08 October 2009, 21:29:27 »
I've had this problem in the past & it was the mechanism sticking. I took the pin off & squirted a load of PTFE spray down the gap. Easy & worked, albeit on a pre-facelift!

Cheers,
I only get a 1/2hr break during the day & by the time I've got through security & walked to the car it would be time to head back!
I'll have to see if anyone is free at the weekend sometime...

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain too well.
It's the fan that cuts out, everything else works as it should.
It speeds up & down if I adjust manually & I get -- when I switch off, seems to work better with sunroof or window open  :-?

Omega General Help / Intermittent Climate Control
« on: 21 July 2009, 13:37:05 »
Hi,
My climate control only works when it feels like it!
It stays on slightly longer when on Hi or Lo but eventually cuts out & will only start again when it feels like it.
I’ve changed the whole panel but it’s still the same.

Have I got two dodgy panels or where else can I look?

Cheers.

Use the key in drivers door, it will take some force (can be scary at times) but will work..

It's not too difficult to replace the bracket that Andy posted a picture of, you need to drill out five, from memory, spot welds. At least one is hidden under a sealing strip.

I found 3/16 or thereabouts pop rivets adequate for it's refitting, I did not want the paint destruction and subsequent corrosion of welding.
It's lasted a year so far with signs of failure.

Removing the door is essential, as is the front window guide, needs to be done with power on to move glass.

Don't unplug the door with the battery connected in case of airbag trouble.

Somewhere I have some pictures taken during the process, if anyone wants them, let me have your email address.
Beforegoing to that extent I'd try the repair kit first.

Cheers kevin, i'll have to take a closer look and find out what it is that's actually broken. something definately fell out and is sat in the bottom of the door
Exact same happened to mine, the mechanism went back together & all repaired with the kit....

the battery is also disconnected .

any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
hang on, how can you lock keys in boot on prefacelift?
Doesn't it depend on whether you've left the lock in vertical or horizontal  :-/

The manual reckons 19mph minimum speed before it will engage
Been a while since I read the manual then!

I think you need to be above 40mph before the cruise will engage :-/
Think that's what the book says but I've got it work lower  :-?

There are 3 buttons at the end of the stalk.

Two at the top & one larger underneath.

The top nearer one (I think) (has a lump that sticks out slightly) sets the cruise at whatever speed you're at (& also increases your speed slightly if you press when in cruise).
The rear one (with a recess) will bring you back to the speed last set with the above button (or slow you down slightly when cruise is set.

The large button on the bottom cancels all.

Does that make sense  :-?

Have you had the climate control panel out, I had the same problem on the Silver Elite I had, turns out I had not pushed the yellow plug to the rear left of the panel home fully.
I haven't but the radio definately has been because it doesn't sit properly, the cage was badly bent & I bodged fixed that. There's a couple of bulbs need replacing so might as well do the lot at the same time..... (eventually!)

cabin blower wont start on Fully Automatic until coolant temp rises.  Does blower come on straight away if you set in to windscreen demist?
Tried this & it does work (mostly) however the fan still cuts out occasionally.
