need to find a small cheap runabout for daughter....
« on: 07 January 2012, 21:41:03 »

would you eagle eyed chaps mind awfully seeing if you can spot anything in your magical wardrobes full of bargain motors???

budget about £400-600

ideal answer,  around about a 99/00 1.2 automatic Corsa....  or equivalent...

MUST be an automatic ,  she stupidly passed her test on an auto basis,  so only allowed an auto.....

she's 18 and therefore insurance is a killer.... so 1.0-1.4 engine,

prefer petrol for all sorts of reasons,  not least to be sure she doesn't get confused and stick diesel in my miggy one day....

thanks in advance for your help chaps....

Cash sale.....

(i didn't think it was appropriate to put this in the sale/wanted section, as i'm rather expecting people just to point me in the right direction.....   not necessarily have one for sale themselves...  )

any advice welcome.......    i've not looked at anythign with less than 6 cylinders for a long time.....    (one of our other daughters had a 106 pug that i'm keen not to ever be reminded of.....  )

Just sold a saxo 1.4 auto on a R plate with 60k for £495. Cracking car. Simple, fairly reliable and still look good for an old car.

Tidla,  yeah, a few,   there's an auto version of both the 1.2 and 1.4 corsa for example,....

Aren't they the Easytronic autos??? If so, they seem to break a lot, they're like SWMBO's Smart, ie a manual gearbox with auto controls.

Not sure at all, just know that some of the new smaller engined Vauxhall run-abouts seem to have these fitted cos they're a bit better on fuel than a 'proper' auto.  :-\ :-\

eBay often has a Vauxhall Easytronic for 'spares or repair'  :-\

Nissan Micra 1.0 or 1.3 CVT. Bombproof, cheap on insurance, good on fuel :y  Or if she fancies a bit of 2 seat retro look...Nissan Figaro 1.0 Auto.

Are these electronic, tiptronic or what ever you want to call them classed as 'Auto' from a license point of view, i suspect they are not, as not classed as Auto........... :-\ :-\ :-\

Pretty sure they are. I'll dig her V5 out when I remember, but I'm sure it just has aito as the gearbox.  :-\

Small auto cars seem to hold their price very well. . .

Lots of the fairer sex taking their test in autos now. . .  and therefore always plenty of buyers looking for cheap older small auto motors.

For some strange reason most females struggle with manual gears ??? ???

They are about though  . .  just gotta search em out . . but IMO   a small auto will always fetch a much better figure than a manual ;) ;)

If there is no clutch pedal then they will be auto's, I suppose?
