Surely this can't be the same person who ripped people off, even his mate got stung by him. He's got some neck on him if it is the same bloke >:(

Time will tell I guess.  It will be interested to see if the newbie's post count shoots up to 250!

In the mean time, I guess it's innocent until proven guilty.  If Markymark wanted to sneak back into OOF, would he use such a similar ID and state he was from Lincolnshire?... I dunno  :-\

The evidence would suggest otherwise Alex. There are 8 resolved issues and 2 unresolved issues on this forum alone let alone the others and to charge Guy (Amigomv6) a good friend of his for doing his head gaskets and just filling the engine with K seal is well out of order in my opinion.

you have a valid point Pete, i dont know why markeymark did the things he did but maybe the only reason i never had any bad dealings with him was because i didnt get him to for example do headgaskets for me etc etc i dont think his work would like the idea of him bodging stuff back together for them if he could do a job properly lol...
well, for every gud 'un you get a bad en or something like that pmsl!

Couple of things....

How did you contact each other?  PM?  Did you PM him asking or did he contact you selling?

Personally, I would attempt to recoup the monies from paypal but there are time constraints as I understand it.  Plus, fair chance the monies you paid in have already been withdrawn and thus, not recoverable until other monies get added.

Too late in this instance, I know, but everyone should read:

Thats assuming the MOT rules & regs in the OP,s location are the same as they are in GB.Due to the gaellic wording of the address Im not sure if hes in Norhtern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, butNorthern Ireland has a different MOT  system to the rest of the U.K. (Govt. test centres rather than garages) and the Republic will possibly have something different altogether. Possibly more similar to other EU countries. ;)

I'm in northern Ireland rules here state that if you have hid's you need headlight washers, and working level sensors. Rules only changed at start of month plus if the car has them I want them to be working.

so if you prefer to buy from new/newish members its your risk imo..

As I said before "I never even thought"
I am only new to site myself and have sold some things with no problems. I like to try and have trust in people and some people like to scam people.
What I would like to know is why would someone say "yeah have that part just give me money and I'll just keep your money and not bother sending you the part and there is nothing you can do about it"
(that's not what he said of course)

At same time who am I to judge he only said that he would send it today so maybe I might hopefully get the part by the latest Tuesday or Wednesday. If I don't get part at least then I can have a good proper rant about it ;)

personally , I would prefer to buy from older members with very high post counts and proven selling history..

so if you prefer to buy from new/newish members its your risk imo..

Latchie, internet is full of scammers in every subject that you can imagine..so unfortunately this site also,  despite the admins all efforts still not totally immune..

If you go back to page 1 of this thread, the username for the posts from Vectra Gsi has changed to MarkeyMarkGsi as a guest.  I assume this means it must have been the same person?  :-\

Any newbie reading this should be assured that most deals go well, I recently bought a part of a member and paid via pay-pal, got a message from the seller to say that the part was not in as good condition as he had thought and offered a full refund and apology, both were respectfully accepted and refund received............The OOF spirit lives on....... :y :y

Totally agree Vamps, abd I think the message has been made pretty clear... Stick with the members that have good post counts and have been part of the forum for a decent amount of time, and you won't go far wrong.   :y

As an example, I recently refunded another member because the car he bought parts off me for had unfortunately been written off, and therefore were no longer any use to him.  I didn't have to do this, but at the end of the day, helping other OOFers out where I can is far more inportant to me than making a few quid.  I know that many of the regular sellers on here share my views too.  :y

Guy, I would suggest you look throught the thread closely and follow the links etc and read them through as well.

Personally, I am satisfied that it is one and the same person.  But there again, I'm a crusty old ex-copper that is happy to follow his nose in such cases, but, TBH, also happy to admit when he got it wrong.

But there is a distinct wiff of fish in this one.  If it looks like a..........   :-X

I think that the admins have some pretty useful tools to help identify him, however he managed to get on here and start selling stuff before he could be stopped.  Thankfully it was only the one item and we may be pleasantly suprised that it will come through, indeed I expect it to as the positive transaction will form part of the ruse.

The timing could not have been more obvious along with the dodgy name, what's the bet he'll come back on another ID soon?

As Vamps said on page 5, while life will always introduce the odd scammer, the majority of folk here are trustworthy enough to do business with.
I personally have purchased parts off here, and have also met other members that have given me cash to obtain parts for them on their behalf even though they hadn't met me before.

I hope you get the parts you paid for Latchie, but my suspicious nature says don't hold your breath because it doesn't look good from what I've read so far.

They will, but it is very easy to get a different IP address and most isp's change your ip address frequently.....so a bit more complicated than just matching up unique ip addresses

I thought he said he was going to post it on Monday thus getting to Ireland may take a few days.  Might be worth waiting a little or getting him to send you the confirmation paperwork from Royal Mail?

Yes mate, try to give it another day or three! Even with the best will in the world, some standard parcels to our fine shore often seem to take longer than expected!
If not received by the weekend, well that's a different story  :-X

I'm in N. Ireland my mate from Luton always sends me stuff and arrives within 2 days.
He said that he would post on Saturday morning.
I have sent a paypal message to him requesting my money back before I take it any further so hopefully he will respond in some way as I haven't heard from him since.

If this is Mark I feel extremely embarrassed to live in the same town as this person...

I myself have recently bought BULKY items from both RobG and Twiglet..  and all i can say is brilliant, all items arrived with 2 days of posting...  So as far as i'm concerned then if you haven't received your part now..  you won't..

Sorry to hear you've been burnt Latchie :( :( Very sad that you've had a bad experience trading on here, even though it was with a new unproven member :(

But rest assured that the regular traders and established members are reliable :y :y

i'm not defending anyone,     i'm just pointing out that it's been my experience that things take longer and cost more than it does in mainland UK when sending to Ireland....   especially when it's sent "time sensitive"    ....    (next day by 9am type of delivery)

north or south.....

( i have clients on the west coast , and occasionally need to ship equipment there....  )

and can imagine someone not realising this, then finding themselves facing a £42 shipping bill for a £20 deal....  (numbers not necessarily accurate) and not wanting to face up to the cock up....

and so sending it by ordinary parcel mail.....   to save money,  but not admitting to it......    hoping it would get there in a reasonable time....

i postulate this simply as i've been on the receiving end of just such events.....     waiting 10 days for stuff to get here , rather than 1 day.,...   as it were

In my experience,it doesnt cost any more or take any longer to post to Northern Ireland than it does to anywhere else in the U.K.
Republic of Ireland is often different though, which is to be expected I suppose.
