Not really a wishbone type setup, lots and lots of diferent link arms and you realy need to do the lot to sort it for any length of time.

Thanks Mark, that will save me some embarasment ;D Bently seem to be the only people who do a manual for this car but I think I'll need to but it.

Problem with all the Audi's, quite a complex front suspension setup which eats bushes (makes Omega wishbones look good).

Meyle do a HD kit for them......not cheap though!

Plus only the four wheel drive Audis actualy handle that well, the rest understeer like b-stards

Hmm, lots to look out for then. I've got the 4wd and I must admit it's the first car I've ever had that goes in a straight line. Even after loads of trips to WIM (as they used to be called) my miggys always had a wonky steering wheel ;D I have noticed though that I get front end vibration braking at 80 which I thought might be the wishbones. I bought it at 95k, got the timing belt dones first thing but sounds like I should start saving for the front end!

I aim to make it my personal mission in life to kill all Audi`s....especially S-line A4`s........ My prefered weapon of choice is a veccy c estate..... ::) ::) ::)

That's a bit harsh :o Must admit though, it's really annoying when one come up behind you on the motorway, so you plet it through only to find it's a poxy A3. They should have different fronts so we can discriminate!

I had to get rid of my miggy a while ago and now have an Audi 2.7T but the audi forums are totally rubbish - no one responds to posted questions and there's very little help on there. I reckon you guys should start an audi forum :y

Update

Am just uploading photos now. A few points I missed:-

1) I've checked the MOT and it ran out on the 9th May I'm afraid. Currently it will not pass because of the large crack in the windscreen and the handbrake needs adjusting. However, last MOT I replaced the rear spring and wishbones so I would expect it to fail on anything else.

2) There is oil in the water from when the oil cooler leaked a while ago. I replaced the oil cooler with a new one and flushed several times, but from what I've read on here it can take around 20 flushes to clear. Unfortunately the oil in the header tank causes the MFD to display Coolant Level altough the coolant level is fine. The pipes, however are OK as I replaced tehm all a wile ago due to the high mileage.

3) I am including a Snooper which has a permanent mount which you will see in the pictures.

I al looking for £300 ono.

Regards
Chris

Cars for Sale & wanted / 1999 (T) 3.0 Elite for sale
« on: 17 June 2012, 08:38:01 »
I've maintained this car since I've had it and it's a very good runner despite having real mialge of around 200,000 (speedo says 95k because I replaced the cluster with a new one a while ago). Recently the heater matrix went and soaked the front/rear carpet. I have bypassed the maxtrix, however I've had to get a new car because I'm so reliant on it for getting to work.

+ points:
Runs very well - loves motorways
Did the cambelt about 2000 miles ago
TomTom GO 300 satnav thrown in (I created a permanent hard-wired mount on the centre console.
Has a brand new genuine VX exhuast (mid-back)
  A few months MOT remaining
  Maroon colour with beige leather

- points
Needs new heater matrix - currently no heating
Air con does not work - leak in condenser
  Large crack in windscreen
Rust on doors and rear wheel arches
Outside temp sensor does not work
  Locking glove box handle broken

Any offers welcome

Thanks
Chris

Are you sure its the matrix itself leaking?

I haven't seen for sure, but driver's side front and rear is under half inch of water with pink antifreeze in it. I replaced the HBV and most of the collant pipes over the last 8 months as a preventative measure as the pipes started going one by one due to the number of miles (around 250k).

Thats quite conclusive  :o

 ;D
