Omega General Help / Brakes
« on: 17 December 2010, 00:42:04 »
The bother in law has just bought an W reg CDX  and already has a few nagging problems with it, so here goes

Brakes are pulling to one side ( think he said to the  LHS ) when he brakes. Disks, pads have been checked and appear to be all ok. I think he also said the front end lifts slightly before it drops down when he brakes. Any thoughts on this.

Omega General Help / Thermostat advice
« on: 28 October 2010, 15:08:12 »
Think mine needs replacing as  the temp gauge seems to take forever to raise to the norm running temp. Drove for about approx 2 miles last night  to work before it even started to show a reading.  It didnt get up to norm running temp untill about 4 miles and by the time I reached  the hell hole  ( about 12miles ) it was up behaveing itself in some sort of fashion. Left her running while I had a smoke  in the car park and the fan cut in and did its job to bring the temp down.

This trip was without any heating on ( us midlanders are hard   ;D ) but the return journey home this morning I waited till she got up to temp before I put the heater on ( eco setting as I a thight barmaid) and that seemed to reduce the reading on the gauge a fraction and when I arrived home I left her running  and temp did raise up to just before fans  would kick in  before I switched  the engine off.

I have also noticed on colder days with the heating on  from the start of my journey the temp gauge will have no reading at all  for the whole journey hence why I think the stat is at fault.

I will be changeing  the coolant in the system as it appears to me to look weak and for a peice of mind aswell I want to be raedy for winter. So do ou think its a stat problem or am I looking for problems that arent there   :-? :-[

« on: 09 October 2010, 13:35:49 »
Im thinking of doing this upgrade and have a chance of a complete system but am worried it might be a bridge to far for me to cope with so what are the pit falls I could expect???

Any advice would be great before I confirm with this chap that I will take it off his hands and is there anything  present on my car that was standard fitted to complete this task  before it was made into a cdx???

This might be a stupied question but please bare with me for a mo.

I have been following the guide on changeing the cam covers on a V6 (replaceing mine  again) and have noticed that this tray cant be seen over the passenger side cam cover itself.... is there a way of disconecting it  so it can be moved out of the way while im refitting the cam cover ( as mine at the mo is right in the way )

Omega General Help / just want to say
« on: 08 October 2009, 22:16:30 »
Cheers to everyone for all the hints they gave me while I  was suffering with my engine problems the other week.

Turned out that the crank  sensor and the MAF sensor was the cause  of my problems with the stupid mistake of not cleaning out the blocked breather pipes that wasnt cleaned out while doing the r/box gaskets :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ ( let that be a leason to you all ::) :)  :) )

Omega General Help / cleaning oil out of spark plug wells
« on: 24 September 2009, 22:00:02 »
Just done my r/box gasket on my 2.5 v6 and thought I'd cleaned out all the oil from the s/p/wells but it appears that i havent done a good enough job as i think the plugs are covered in oil again as its running like a pig again.
Going too have another go in the morning and change the plugs but before i put the new ones in i want to make sure these arent going to get coated in oil too, so any advice would be great

We are off up there next month  for a few days  and will be staying in Glasgow. we plan to visit L/Lomond and Edinburgh but I was wandering if there was oher places that we should visit aswell. Seems silly to drive all that way and not have every day sorted in what we are going to do that day.

Driving back down here  tonight on the M40  after our 2-1 victory over a small town club from Landan, I was  getting rather a tad miffed with the plonkers who think its a great idea to drive in the middle lane doing 70mph  while over taking fresh air..... why dont theses retards just think  and move over into the empty inside lane and allow the quicker movers  to get  on with their journey instead of been slowed up by these numpties  >:( >:( >:(

By the way did I tell ya it was CCFC 2 MFC1 JUST WANTED TO MAKE THAT A LITTLE CLEARER TO EVERYONE ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I want to re do the top patio with some new lighter slabs and bed them down on a wet mix of sharp and soft sand, but I was wandering if I could leave the old council type slabs (  heavy  and thick  sods ) where they are as my base. I know these havent been layed on anything apart from the dirty they are sat on already
