General Discussion Area / She's a menace
« on: 31 January 2008, 19:41:15 »
Not content with bringing her Rover home with low oil and coolant yesterday (possible HG), she went to work in the MV6 today.

She complained its a bit wandery (hardly surprising, seeing as the new shocks are still sat in the kitchen ::)), but just informed me that when she left Tescos, she had a low coolant warning, and an EML on.

She's away for the weekend doing her C&G, so needs a car, so she'll have to use tractor, seeing as she's broke the other 2....

General Discussion Area / Another day, still not much done

A cambelt on an ex-plod 3.0l.  What a bastard one.  This was all stripped down ready to go, but still took 4hrs just to get the belt on.  Just couldn't get it lined up.  Then the tension slipped, and jumped  some teeth on crank.  Still, got there in the end.

Handbrake on MV6, as its due MOT soon.

Managed to get rid of the last of M_DTM's junk down the tip as well, made it down at right time when the operators there were all drinking tea.

Still not tidied garage :(

General Discussion Area / OOF webspace/email trials
« on: 26 January 2008, 22:04:41 »
The trial ended some time ago, but we allowed the triallists to keep using the service for a few months.

This freebie will end at the end of February 2008.  Any (inc non triallists) accounts not paid for by then will be deleted.

If you wish to keep using you account, make sure you contact me before then....

General Discussion Area / Busy Day, but nothing done
« on: 26 January 2008, 18:37:59 »
Started by updating TIS on the laptop, then updating the Tech2

Took the bodge spark plug out of tractors sump, and let the oil drain.

Put a new drop link on the tractor to see if that was the knock it had developed (before yesterdays fun and games!)

Stuck dehumidifyer in Mrs TB's Rover, as thats damp inside.

Mrs TB's brother turned up with his new (to him) A6 thats as flat as a pancake.  Looks like the turbo may be fubar, but need to check wastegate a bit better first.

Mrs TB's parents then turned up with a sideboard, so had to clear a space in dining room for it.

Got sump plug back in and oil topped up in tractor.

Didn't get round to planned jobs:
Adjusting handbrake on MV6
Tidying up the garage
Sorting out the tools, that are scattered around garage, kitchen, and living room ::)
Going down the tip with loads of metal bits.
Going to dealer to get new discs and pads for MV6 (which I forgot yesterday) and fit.

I've been discussing with WIM the celebratory days to be held probably in March, dates still to be finalised.

Open Day
This is an open day open to all clubs, and is a look around the new centre. Refreshments provided by WIM

Technical Day
This will be on a yet-to-be-decided Sunday and is purely for OOF.  The format will be cars will be chosen at random on the day, and aligned, with WIM explaining what and why. The cars chosen will be done for free, so you may be lucky enough to get probably the best alignment available in the UK on your Omega for nought.  If your car doesn't get chosen, you will still see the process and how it is done.

Passed its MOT today :D, 4 advisories  :'(:

'Plastic sills' - had this last year on MV6. Arse covering exercise for MOTers
Diesel smell - can't deny, I have you new leak off pipes to fit (cant find leak)
Fr Discs pitted
Fr Pads low - not that low, but need doing with discs anyway.

I was concerned about the smoke test (those who saw the car a few months ago know why), but I stood behind when he did it, and it doesn't blow much out at all :)

I'm not pilot, but that plane from impact to standstill doesn't look far.

Well done to pilot I guess.

Do you know how heavy that box was that you put in the boot of my tractor?  My gonads have gone a funny shape now!

I see from the TC website (my new book not arrived yet) that the 4 for 3 oil offer has been extended, unsurprisingly :)

General Discussion Area / Wheels-In-Motion Open Day
« on: 08 January 2008, 20:43:28 »
See Meetings section.

To celebrate the opening of the new Wheels-In-Motion centre, Tony from WIM is arranging an open day.

We need to work around his availability, but put up a poll for those who would like to attend and when.

It is near the M1/M25 area...
