« on: 08 January 2008, 20:43:28 »
See Meetings section.

To celebrate the opening of the new Wheels-In-Motion centre, Tony from WIM is arranging an open day.

We need to work around his availability, but put up a poll for those who would like to attend and when.

It is near the M1/M25 area...

General Discussion Area / SPD/IF
« on: 07 January 2008, 13:29:33 »
My PC MCE has digital out, both optical and coax.  The VGA card has HDMI, and a SPD/IF in. My surround amp has both coax and optical SPD/IF inputs.

What I need to do is connect SPD/IF to the VGA SPD/IF in (to send audio up HDMI cable, along with video) and simultaneously send SPD/IF to the surround amp.

Can I simply use optical to amp, and solder the wires from vga card to coax connector on motherboard?

For those that don't know, out TD expert, Omegatoy, is off to start a new life in the sun this week.  I know he will remain a regular poster here, but will probably be offline for a while until he sorts out internet access in his new place.

Just wanted to say, have a good trip down, and I hope you settle in quickly, you lucky bugger :y

On a personal level, I'd like to say thanks for all your help this year, and a thanks for all the fun we've had.  I know you'll be back in the UK occasionally, but you'll still be missed by Sue and I. And missed by this forum (until you're back online), and the ABS guys...

Safe trip :y

As you will have obviously noticed, there have been some changes around here ;)

Now despite the Admin Team looking for potential probles for the past 6 weeks or so, we suspect one or 2 may have slipped through the net.

Please post up any issues in the 'Forum Help' section, rather than clutter General Chat :y

General Discussion Area / 2.5/3.0 owners - a small plea
« on: 22 December 2007, 21:27:32 »
With many of us doing a lot long trips over the holiday period, I urge all 2.5 and 3.0 v6 owners to do a paperclip test.

If a 19 is stored, get a crank sensor!

For those not in the know, a crank sensor failure is pretty much the only sensor that can cause a v6 to break down.  Trust me, I know, after mine finally gave up the ghost just outside Dijon, France, a couple of years back.

You usually get a warning of a 19 before it fails completely.  Be aware, that normally, this code being stored does NOT bring on EML.

My advice is to paperclip every couple of months regardless.

Mrs TheBoy is compiling a Christmas quiz for early tomorrow (Christmas Eve) evening, probably between 6 - 7pm ish

Get your teams together now, and get team captains to PM me.

I have not seen the Q's, but she says they are mostly fairly easy questions, and are suitable for all the family. So if the kids are excitable about the big day, get them (and any OOF widows) to join in - this will help pass some time.

Get the family together and form a team!

Or join up with other members to form a team.

If you have never taken part in our quizes, I urge to to take part in this one - this may be the last ever OOF quiz if we can't get many teams taking part :(

Don't worry if you think general knowledge quizzes are too hard - she assures me this one is quite easy, and suitable for all the family.  The theme is 'Christmas'

Amazon
Order stuff ages ago for Christmas, all in stock. As they couldn't be bothered to deal with it until last minute, so use a courier.  Now they assured me it would arrive today. Obviously it didn't.  When I called at 3pm, and again at 17:10, still guaranteed before 6pm.  Now the scumabgs haave absolutely no idea when it will turn up.  Apparently the best they can do is get the courier to call me 'within the next 24hrs'. Tossers.

Play
They deliver on time, but the wrong stuff. Little chance of getting that sorted before Christmas now.

beyondtelevision.co.uk
Absolutley unwilling to lift a finger to help get my TV that I bought from them fixed.

Samsung
Unable to even begin to let me know when (ie, possibly this year?) they can call me to arrange a time for an engineer to look at my poorly TV.

Lying bastards  >:( - promised me, after their cock-up that the correct item would be dispatched yesterday.

Needless to say, not dispatched yet, the lazy tossers will not even say if it will be dispatched today.  Despite them cocking up twice, they will do nothing to try to speed up this order, or use a faster delivery service.

What is it with companies now?

Sorry, once again (2nd time in a fortnight), my PM box filled, and I've probably lost some as it deletes the oldest even if not read.

If you were expecting a reply from me, but haven't received one, can you please resend?
