Omega General Help / Chip tuning my omega 2.5 td manual
« on: 01 April 2013, 12:26:26 »
Hi all.m
Recently I have phoned a couple of tuning specialists here in the north east.
some say with mine being the 2000 model (xreg) it needs chip tuning. Instead of a remap
one of the company's said they can't get hold of the chip set for my car so they can't do it.
While the other said they'd fit a sort of plug and play box in and adjust thing through that but I would be better off getting one for cheaper off eBay.

now I'm confused with it all and need some help.

has anyone had one of these plug and play boxes fitted??
Which one did you buy? And did it fit to the fuel pump or did it plug into the common rail.
and lastly did it make your car more drivable?

Or does anyone know where I can get a chip set I can have installed into my ecu.
I think this would be a better way of changing the characters of my car that I need addressing.
Is there anyone on here who can point me in the right direction
Cheers Gary

Hi all I have an omega 2.5 td Cdx estate with manual gearbox although its an excellent car.
If I was asked to describe it in 2 words I'd say
Big (and) slow
Big being exactly the reason I bought it but I did hope it would be a fair bit nippier
Mine is the 130ps 250nm version without maf sensor etc.
there are many companies that offer a remap, chip tune etc etc
And for around £250 on paper it would seem to be with it.

I have a mondeo 2ltr tdi that's 115ps with 300nm as standard
And that drives quite quickly as the turbo starts to spool and pull from around 1800 rpm

So what I'm asking is this

If I spend the money on a remap for my car will it be a lot quicker?
Will/can the turbo spool any sooner in the rev range?
Will fuel economy be better. As the map has removed all flat spots?
Do any of you guys have any recommendations?
All I really want out of this car is it to be able to accelerate decently without fear of dropping out of the turbo range and car becoming so flat I have to gear down to find any kind of pull.

Cheers all

Hi all. Just thought if offers little info on this issue as it seems to be a fair few cars have had the same problem.

A lot of people have checked brakes, callipers, wishbones etc etc to no avail
And at first I thought that too.

So I replaced brake pads and disks all round and still had this issue.

If the car is on the floor and you check the wishbone bushes they seem fine.
It's only when you have car on ramps and have power steering going turning from lock to lock that you notice the bushes are shot.

Replaced bushes and car feels like new again.

It could always be something else that caused the issue mind its just I'm letting ppl know about the bushes as how they can be deceptive when car is on the floor.
Hope it might help a couple if you out there :-)

Hi. I have recently bought an omega Cdx estate.

It had the low beam fld vision warning on the dash so I thought it must be sensor needs re attaching.

So I had the front wheel off earlier today with the hope of easily locating and attaching said señor.

Unfortunately for me the car has had 2 new wishbones fitted recently
But there is no sensor or bracket. Thers a wire hanging down towards the wishbone but noting for it to plug into.

I'm asking has anyone of you got a spare sensor and bracket at all.
This would be a great help if you have

Thank you

Newbie Welcome Area / Hi all I'm new here
« on: 12 March 2013, 23:21:00 »
Hi all Iv just joined this forum and I'd like to say
Hello to everyone.

Iv just bought an old x reg omega 2.5 td Cdx estate
And I'm very happy with it. Yeah it could do with a little more shove so ill get it remapped in a couple of weeks after reading some posts about it. And asking a couple of questions :-)

This is my 3rd omega estate now.
Iv had a 2.0 petrol estate gls manual  (r reg) and a 2.6 v6 auto cd. (Y reg) first car engine had 2cylinder heads go and finally water pump gave out and knackered engine. So that went to someone with a donor engine. And the v6 with the auto box was an amazing car but just too thirsty around town where I done most of my driving. That car was brilliant. It was only 4 years old at the time.

With this new one, Like all cars this old thers a few things to put right and in time ill get round to sorting  these  out with a little help from you guys with a bit of luck.

1. self levelling headlights completely missing the sensor and bracket ( if there is meant to be a bracket that is) on the near side front wishbone. And rear one has snapped off  the push clips but Iv held that together with a tie wrap :-)

2. The aircon/heater system only ever stays hot on the drivers side while the passenger side goes cold or hot depending on where you set it.

I'm assuming this Is the arm thats attached to the servo in the drivers side footwell behind the console so hopefully this is a 10 minute job.

Engine, gearbox, cutch, fluids all great.
So all I can say is I'm a happy man.
