Omega General Help / Coil Pack
« on: 24 November 2012, 10:08:05 »
What are the symptoms of imminent coil pack failure ?

3.0 v6 Starts perfect everytime but when the engine has warmed up, usually after 2-3miles developes a miss. I can stop the engine and restart it and it's still missing. Turn engine of and start it from cold the miss has disappeared but as engine warms up the miss returns.
Checked the codes and only 12 + 31 so all is well there.

Any ideas ?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Dash failure ?
« on: 16 November 2012, 14:48:55 »
On a 2.5TD W plate, Going along the motorway last night the dash board decided to start playing up. Lost all the gauges(fuel, temp, tacho, speedo etc) trip meter has gone into default mode(outside temp only-no radio info etc) all dash board lights are working though.
Is there a voltage regulator fitted somewhere to control the gauges or is this a sign of something more sinister ?

I seem to recall something about a speedo failure being related to the ABS pump on another forum members car, or am i confussing this with something else ?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Under seat heating
« on: 31 October 2010, 18:11:50 »
Under my rear seat i have these 2 connectors which i presume are for the heated seat base

The flat connector has 4 wires to it,Green/ Brown, Green, White, Brown/White and the larger connector has 7 wires to it Brown, Black/White, Red, Black/White, Black, Black/Yellow, Black/Red and 2 unoccupied ports.

On the underside of the seat base are 2 connectors and they both have 2 wires to them, Brown and Black/Red. And by the base locks each side there is a twin cable with Brown and Black wires

The 2 cables by the base locks don't have any connectors on them, what do they connect to ?

What do i need to connect to get the rear seat heating to work ?     Is there a flylead/loom missing that connects the 2 small connectors on the seat base to the flat connector with the 4 wires
All the wiring to the switches is present and all seems to be correct.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Front seats
« on: 08 November 2010, 16:25:53 »
I need a wiring diagram for the front seats on a 2001 Facelift. I need the diagram for the motors and the heater pads.
The Haynes book of lies is no good as it only does the earlier models which only have on/off switches for the heater pads whereas the Facelift has on/of switches that incorperate temperature controls.
Both heater pads work but are on all the time so at the moment i have disconnected them.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / HID bulbs
« on: 25 November 2009, 17:29:21 »
On the MV6 Estate 2001 are the HID bulbs D2S 4100K's or are they D2S 6000K's ?

And can the D2S 6000K's be fitted in place of D2S 4100K's as an upgrade or does the ballast box need to be changed as well ?

The headlights on my estate are absolutely crap when driving in the rain and not a lot better in the dry. I've cleaned the glass so it's not that, they've been like it since i've had the car.

Omega General Help / Battery problems
« on: 03 January 2011, 10:52:31 »
Went out yesterday to go and get some milk and the car wont start again, 3rd time in as many months. There doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern to it other than if it's left for more than 48hrs battery can't cope.
Anyway, i jump started it and went merrily about my business, drove to Oxford and back to charge the battery, approximately 30miles altogether. After taking the shopping in i went out and checked the voltage across the battery - 12.4volts at 17.00hrs. Got up this morning and went out to check the voltage again - 12.0volts at 10.00hrs.
Now the thing is, last time this happened i did all the checks in Kevins "how to" and all was as it should be, no apparent drain and altenator charging OK but again the battery goes flat after 48hrs or so. It can do it after a long run or a short run, it doesn't seem to make any differance.
I suspect the battery is the culprit, any ideas what else could be causing it ?
