Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Trafficmaster Oracle
« on: 07 January 2009, 21:23:46 »
Have acquired a trafficmaster with a load of wiring loom from another Elite, I remember reading that the units can be 'enhanced' ::), I have a silver one that arrived today, and haven't looked at the colour of the one in the car as I understand that there is a black unit too.

Which one can be 'enhanced', and are they interchangeable easily enough?

Cheers in advance :)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / MID
« on: 08 December 2008, 23:06:45 »
Anyone have a copy of the MID code list? I'm trying to diagnose why the computer functions won't move from outside temp and want to find out how the computer is set up.

Cheers in advance

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCRT 700 with Nokia CK7 car kit
« on: 30 November 2008, 17:26:01 »
Bought the correct autoleads wiring for the BOSE system and came to fit it this weekend.

Managed to get the bitch of a glovebox out after many hours of struggling with it to find that the previous owner had installed his own car kit and butchered the original wiring in there - ended up having to install the CK7 with an external speaker and a wire to mute the CCRT (which is pink and red on the iso block if anyone finds they have to in future)

So if anyone is looking for an autoleads 06-109B with the extra line filter for the BOSE equipment I'll be sticking in on ebay in the morning.

I should imagine it would have been much much easier to just plug and play but these things are sent to try us! >:(

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm LED flashing rapidly
« on: 30 November 2008, 17:16:24 »
Was busy messing around with the car all morning and managed to run the battery down with the interior lights on with radio etc. in the -2 heatwave.

Engine was sluggish to start later on this aft obviously due to the battery power being low and the alarm led was flashing rapidly a code of 21 flashes.

Hooked up the "My Naff Code Reader" and diagnosed that the alarm was telling me that the battery voltage was running low - just to bear in mind over the coming months!

Morning all!

I've just put up my Blaupunkt CDC Changer on ebay as the unit doesn't seem to respond to the CCRT system other than saying 'No CDC' and then ejecting.

I remember reading that the CDC2 comes in two flavours, for the CCR600 etc series and another physically identical but CCRT700 only model. Does anyone know the product code that should be printed on the back of the unit please? 8-)

I've a feeling the previous owner may have changed the cd unit without realising the different units existed!

Cheers

Mine currently reads 90 493 268

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCRT GID Display Problem
« on: 20 July 2008, 20:50:50 »
Evening all,

Just bought an Elite (99my) which has the CCRT700 Bose Onstar System installed.

The GID displays date, time, phone and outside temperature figures fine. Upon starting there is no 'Check Brakes' message and the trip computer will not scroll through the various options.

I initially thought it was the indicator stalk, but if I hold down the S & R buttons the display changes after a few seconds to display some random numbers that mean nothing to me but seem to indicate that the buttons work.

I'd quite like to have the display working properly so I can measure mpg etc, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance 8-)

Omega General Help / Traction Control in Snow...
« on: 03 December 2008, 09:29:56 »
... is quite frankly pants. It took me 15 minutes yesterday to move the car from in front of the house, the traction control was killing the power on the engine to the point that it nearly stalled and the 'ice' mode on the gearbox didn't help much.

In the end, to get it moved I had to rev the arse off it with the traction turned off with the rear wheels spinning like a chav on Tescos car park.

Was quite annoying yet satisfying to have the speedo up to 160 at a walking pace!

Omega General Help / V6 Headgasket / Oil Cooler / HBV
« on: 02 January 2009, 10:52:35 »
Morning all

Past three weeks or so have seen a coolant leak get progressively worse. Oil filler has been fine up until this morning when I noticed mayo, though thankfully the oil in the dipstick is a light brown as it's only done 1,000 miles.

The coolant is brown and murky but doesn't smell of fumes so I think the oil cooler is on the way out, the only thing I can't figure out is that the car when idling is not smooth like it was until very recently. It's like a washing machine when the load isn't evened out if that makes sense!

Could that be a case of water leaking onto something electrical?

Here's the state of the filler cap, but it was -3 yesterday so I think it's likely down to that.

Any opinions?

I know the V6 head gasket is supposed to be almost bombproof but I went out earlier and used 2.5 litres of coolant on a 12 mile journey. The cooling system is also over pressurising.

The mayo under the filler cap is horrendous and now the dipstick has creamy mayo on it too, albeit much less than the filler cap.

Photos are below, it's booked to have the HBV and oil cooler at the weekend with Elite Pete but now I don't think I'll be able to drive it to him. It's definitely not running on 6 cylinders and I can't see a bloody leak of coolant from anywhere underneath the car. The coolant looks like Tizer but slightly less appetising.

Am I the 1% whose head gasket has gone? How much is that likely to be?

Cheers in advance before I turn to self harm ::)

Mayo in the oil filler, also appears on the bolt to the left of it

This is the colour of the coolant

Omega General Help / HID foglights
« on: 09 January 2009, 21:31:18 »
Anyone changed their foglamps over to HIDs, I know the kits can be bought on ebay quite easily and am aware over the wash / levelling bit of the law, was under the impression that they couldn't be used in non projector style lense but will happily be proved wrong. If anyone has done it is there any chance of pics?

TIA

Have both fitted to my car, the self levelling suspension is working fine. The 'Headlamp Field/Vision' warning comes up on the computer and it would appear that the lamps aren't adjusting themselves.

Am I right in thinking that having the suspension adjust itself means that the headlamp adjusters are a bit redundant anyway?

Does anyone know if the rear facelift lights will fit on a 99 mini facelift?

Cheers in advance

Omega General Help / Pre facelift heated seats
« on: 08 December 2008, 23:10:24 »
Due to the recent heatwave I've been using the heated seats frequently, the ones on my previous Mondeo were 'subtle' whereas the Omega seem to be like third degree burns.

Are they normally so powerful, or is it the sign of impending doom or electrocution ;)

Omega General Help / Tech 2 ("My Naff Code Reader") in Manchester
« on: 10 August 2008, 20:52:59 »
Hey all

Bought me a tech 2 from ebay and have managed to code myself a key and fob to the immobiliser and alarm system respectively. Only system that wont talk to it is the Climate Control.

If anyone's struggling with fault codes and the like or needs to code a key and wants to save some cash from the dealers stealers - for some beer money I'd be willing to try and help
