Omega General Help / Re: temperature gauge not working
« on: 03 December 2011, 08:50:00 »
:-\ Sounds like that bolt hole might have had some water in it and when you tried to tighten it it 'hydraulicked' and stripped the threads in the block. Its never the bolt threads. It can be repaired by the use of a helicoil but the head has to come back off which would mean a new gasket. The head bolts should all have been replaced with new ones anyway.
As for the temp guage, its a simple matter of locating the temp sensor and reconnecting the wire to it as already shown.
Hope bad news does not come in 3s for you...........
GudLuk  :y
Good morning sir, thax very much for the picture and the advice on the front head bolt. how does the HELICOIL WORK ? Cna I do it myself or it need experts? this bolt is not really loose, can I try to use the vehicle on observation to see what will happen or I should just pack it?

... so where is this sensor located, is it at the back or front of the engine?

Right at the back.  :y

this is a 2.0 hence the DIS pack, but apparently your 2.2 is similar  :y

Thx, I actually so it but was not sure about it. I will try to fix it this morning

The temp wire is an easy fix, it just plugs on to a small sensor.... I'm more worried about the head bolt.

How do you know it's not holding tight?

Did you tighten it to the same spec as the others? Does it just feel as though it's turning and not tightening? (Hope to goodness the thread in the block is ok!)

This is the priority...
hello sir, yes I did torque the same as others. (25nm, 3x90 deg, then 15 deg but at third stage the bolt was not really holding, pliz advise. again, so where is this sensor located, is it at the back or front of the engine?

Does it idle at normal speed?

Can you describe the noise a little more? Is it a knocking sound, tapping or is the engine just misfiring? Can you listen around the engine to determine where the sound is coming from? Up front under the cam belt cover perhaps? Top end under the cam cover? bottom end?

Can you read the fault codes from the engine ECU?

hello hei guys, I just want to report about the head gasket done some few days ago: I removed the cams and retorqued the bolts 90 +15 degs. One front bolt seems abit weak though. Reassembled everything, I cudn't trace where to fit one pipe at the back of the engine driver's side. I started the engine, it went vroooooom!!!!!!! but vibrating vigorously with rough sound like a 7 tonner truck. I want to go back on it today to see whats happening. if anyone has got ideas, pliz advise, I know there are some experts there. May the Lord bless u all as we are approaching Xmass, gibby

Just re read this.

We need to clarify whether or not the car has been driven.

If it's been started / ran / driven on a HG that's not been torqued through all the stages, then that MAY cause issues.

If it's not even been used, then no worries, tighten through another 90 deg, and job's a goodun :y

Hello boss,  then thus fine because I just started it and run the engine just less than ten minutes and switched off without driving an inch. thax for that advice.

i think the 2.2 petrol is -
25nm
90deg
90deg
90deg
optional 15deg tolerance turn
someone will be along to confirm  :y

SO DO I NEED TO TORQUE ANOTHER 90 DEGREES AGAIN WITH THE SAME BOLTS OR I NEED TO BUY ANOTHER SET OF BOLTS AND REDO THE TORQUING.?
correct... If using pattern bolts, dont use the tolerance turn!

WHEN I WAS CHANGING THE HEAD GASKET on omega z22xe 2198cc 2001 auto, I HAD THE INFORMATIOM OF TIGHTENING THE HEAD AS FOLLOWS:first stage 25NM, second stage 90 DEGRES and last 90 degres again. But after looking on the forum it seems to continue to fourth stage 90 degres and then last stage 15 degrees.
SO MY QUESTION IS, SHOULD I JUST LIVE AS IT IS OR ADD ANOTHER 90DEGREES THEN 15 DEGREES? OR SHOULD I BUY ANOTHER SET OF BOLTS AND START ALL OVER AGAIN? PLEASE ADVISE.

I'M VERY SORRY FOR BEING A PAIN THIS FORUM.

what could be causing some misfire

i assume you have plugged everything back in and none of the coilpacks are damaged nor any oil in plugwells ?

it has only one coil pak that runs in the centre of the rocker cover and it feeds all the cylinders
