Omega General Help / Re: Auto gearbox won't shift up to 4th
« on: 21 February 2021, 13:34:42 »
My 2.6 occassionally does this, but no flashing lights it just sticks in 3rd, then you've got to give it the beans up to about 5.5k and then let of the throttle quick and it will shift.
You know that's not normal, right :-\

...drove with original ATF about 280 000 km, I remember that when engine and gearbox were cold and I went directly to highway I had some delayed shifting from 2 to 3 or 3 to 4. After having changed oil about a year ago I did not have this behavior any longer. Perhaps nothing to do with the old oil but that happened to me.

What a list... good to keep for spares anyhow.

I studied this selector case a bit more, those cards might be available somewhere, found from Russia "Opel Omega Club" -pages one article having a card which seems to be soldered there afterwards as a spare. It has nice copper leads. Problem is that I do not understand this language. Price of new original selector in Germany is 450 euro so repairing those would be a solution. Changing the card is simple, just solder 5 leads.

Do what Nick W proposed, after cleaning check that those metal leads are not broken, see link below.

Mine needed totally new one as two of those thin metal leads were broken. Those "printed cards" maybe cannot be bought.

the diagram in haynes shows it as k59 and an 8 pin unit but the relay termination markings are not shown . do you know the wire colour going to pin '8' ?
Sorry I do not. It is located in terrible place and I did not take photos 5 years ago. I tried to find pictures from internet and what I found was exactly same soldering failure in Corsa relay which seemed to be repaired by re-soldering. Perhaps typical failure in these relays?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Day Light Relay Legs
« on: 09 February 2021, 14:45:46 »
Hello, found my old broken day light relay and opened it just for fun. Quite simple, two relays + some passive components. When taking a closer look in back side I see one soldering which is remelted. It has even "carbon black" close to it, coming from Leg No.8 - the bigger relay. Perhaps bad (cold) soldering which has heated too much or bad contact in contact bits creating heat. Contact bits seem to be clean and move easily. Car is OK as new relay worked since I changed it e.g. 5 years ago. Does anybody know where this leg No. eight is going or is the diagram of this relay function available. Just want to learn about it more...

OK, thanks for comments, want to have it double locked and alarm on.

Ok, thanks. Perhaps Main Switch to minus is one solution. I was just wondering whether this modern chargher will destroy some electronic devices if used while battery connected.

What is the meaning of these LS, LU, LP etc. in Jan Shur's list?

Hello, so Omega stands quite much in garage presently, used it last time during Christmas. I checked today that I still could open the doors with remote. I would like to keep it double locked so battery connected but can I now and then charge it with CTEK MXS 5.0 without disconnecting the battery?

Quite actual discussion this replacement cats. What is typical mileage for V6 cats and is this catman a potential supplier for V6. Found in Autodoc more than 600€ lh+rh.

No problem, 100 000 miles is more than 160 000 kilometers and even 70 000 miles is more than 115 000 km. Let's see, I will do it in Eastern. It is bad luck if it brakes before that, if it does it's just max. 16 valves and some stupid work, ha ha...

Thanks, I have 77 000 km, not 177 000 km. Dimension 'km' means kilometers and 60 miles is 100 kilometers so is the mileage 100k we talk 100 000 miles?
Antifreeze ok, -36 centigrate guaranteed...
