Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Muted satnav

cheers guys, found the speaker, not sure if the speaker has died or whether there is a wiring problem from the Carin system. Hopefully it'll be a speaker.

Anyone know the spec of it if I get a replacement from the likes of Maplins or somthing?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Muted satnav
« on: 16 July 2007, 15:34:47 »
Hi

Can anyone explain how the sat nav (Carin) works in my Elite?

I've bought a legit disc from ebay, which works great (for 10 year old nav anyway) but there is no voice coming through the speakers. There is the option for volume etc in the settings which I've tried and tried, but I am thinking it must be hardware related?

Can the Carin system lose the voice settings, do they need to be reloaded?
Is the system wired into the Bose amp, perhaps there is a wire missing? (not got time to check for a couple of weeks...)

Ta

no markings I can see, therefore I'm not really sure what source would work best.

its got two spade connections on it that's it!

I do need to try another speaker, but again I'm at a loss as too which is best. Maplins didn't even have a size that matched never mind specs.

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / sat nav speaker
« on: 22 October 2007, 10:41:24 »
Hi

I'm hoping that my muted sat nav is down to a faulty speaker rather than any other problems with wiring.

The carin system works perfect, except for no voice giving me directions, therefore I have to look at the screen.

I have been to maplins to see if they have stock of similar speakers, they didn't, anyone help me on where to get one from?

Cheers

Andrew

Omega General Help / Re: Oil leak - filler cap neck
« on: 22 October 2007, 13:11:29 »
cheers guys

my concern on the size of the job was whether the neck should remove, or whether it was attached to the engine cover in some way. I'm not a mechanic if its not obvious! :D

If its just a case of replacing the o-ring seal then happy days, I'll get one ordered.
