Managed to get door open today - tried to open by attaching 12v to starter motor but no joy on central locking so then tried the door lock again but this time holding the doorlock in open position and opened ok - not sure what happened as before i applied the 12v the lock was freewheeling but after there was the resistance again when turning the key lock - so all ok and battery now on charge - so happy new year to you all and a big thankyou for all your help  ;D

Omega General Help / Re: EML light on
« on: 31 January 2010, 12:08:12 »
Had similar situation on my 2.2 a couple of years ago - spanner light would come on but no change noticed in performance ( although it didn't lead to EML coming on) - cured it by cleaning all the breathers and throttle body - only recently cleaned them again (30k since last clean) as it started happening again - no spanner light since cleaning them  HTH

« on: 11 April 2009, 14:04:29 »
Hi all - just a quick question - i'm just changing my front brake pads using GM pads - but the 2 pads i just removed have shims fitted on both whereas only 2 of the 4 GM pads have shim fitted - so which side of the caliper should the shim side be ??

Hi all
Need some help / ideas please - Started my car this afternoon,  after using it most of the day , and the engine imediately ran very lumpy and eml came on - was'nt far from home so managed to get home but eml went off during the journey and car running smoother - but will only run smooth if revs increased slowly - a sharp dab on the accelerator pedal and it will run lumpy like a misfire - but will run quite smooth at 3, 4, 5k revs - I checked on my cheapo code reader but no fault stored  - any ideas what i should check - a similar fault has happened before to me and that fault code was egr but this corrected itself without cleaning egr valve - maybe has fault re-occured?? egr need cleaning ??

Omega General Help / Re: dash warning light
« on: 09 February 2009, 18:10:37 »
Hi - had the same on my 2.2 - spanner light would come on but no affect on engine and performance - cured it by having the throttle body and breather pipes cleaned - garage said they were extremely dirty - had them done at 94k - now 111k and no problems
