Omega General Help / Re: LPG Conversion Recommendations?
« on: 17 May 2010, 15:38:59 »
VXL V6 - I'm up for a little local co-operation. I'll PM you when i start the project.

Also, Good question... I would like to know the best option for the estate. I understand that it could be a little restrictive on size, having to fit in the spare wheel well but I don't see the point of loosing the benefit of the load capacity of the estate. Just means a little journey planning before any long trips.

Shame you cant replace the petrol with an LPG tank and install a small petrol reserve in the wheel well.

Or can you?

Ok - You have sort of convinced me. :y

I will be away from tomorrow for a week but I would be grateful if I can pick this up again on my return.

In the meantime a list of the best places to buy the kit and any other good advice would be appreciated.

Finally has anyone posted a DIY guide on the forum?

Many thanks for your input...

The more me thinks about a DIY job the less appealing it plays. I wouldn't have a clue where to start if it all went wrong.  Just in case there are any unforeseen problems, much better to have someone who has at least done it before.

Anyone fancy the job? ::)

tunnie I agree with you, there are a lot of bad installers. Hopefully someone will recommend a good one.

I have heard good reports about the Stag system, and OMVL and Landi

DIY?

While I am OK with a set of spanners, I changed the timing and Aux belt myself I am more than a little reluctant to undertake this job.

Omega General Help / LPG Conversion Recommendations?
« on: 16 May 2010, 16:37:22 »
I have a mint 2003 Omega Estate 2.6 V6 CDX Estate which I would like to have converted to LPG.

There is a bewildering choice of systems and prices out there.

Can anyone offer advice and recommendations on the best systems/installers?

I live in the West Mids/Warwickshire area.

Many thanks...

Omega General Help / Front Shocks Interchangeable?
« on: 15 June 2009, 16:58:03 »
I have a facelift 03 2.6 CDX that needs new front shocks.
Know a man that can supply pre-facelift shocks for £10

Are the front shocks/struts interchangeable between the pre & facelift models - and different engine types?

Again thanks to everone.....

Again thanks - looking at the pictures on the forum it has raised another question. When I tried to turn the nut the whole case moved. is this correct or should just the top/lid part turn and the base remain fixed to the engine block?

All above - Many thanks for your replies, especially lizzie zoom for the suggestion to use the 1/2" socket and converting to a canister type. Too cold to try again this afternoon will have a go tomorrow.

Omega General Help / How do i remove the oil filter case on 03 v6
« on: 14 January 2009, 15:26:17 »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone tell me which way to turn the oil filter case on a 03 V6?

The filter in the new BMW type with a 15/16 nut on the case end and uses a paper cartridge filter not the usual all in one unit.
The case is stamped 15nm and a clockwise arrow.
I have tried every extension in the socket set but can only get the case to move 1/8 turn either way and then it seizes solid...
Thanks in anticipation

Omega General Help / Re: AirCon compressor not working?
« on: 25 August 2008, 17:15:19 »
I was told by the guy who came out to fix my aircon system www.aircondoctor.co.uk a common fault with any aircon system where the air compressor is mounted at the bottom of the engine bay, as on an omgegs is clutch seizer due to fording flood water. Made more common by the all the wet weather we have had. He said his sales of compressors have quadrupled over the last two years.  Have a look in the space between the fan housing and the exchanger and see if it’s full of dried leaves and other pond life. If the clutch is seized and not operating fully a common fix is to soak it wd40 and give it a belt with a hammer to free it. Nothing to lose if you next step is to swap it. Also look at his FAQ page – Helped me in general faultfinding.

Omega General Help / Re: Aircon Recharge?
« on: 25 August 2008, 20:07:15 »
Recommend a company that sorted me out, mobile but has all the latest gear. www.aircondoctor.co.uk. I think it’s a franchise so there may be one in your area. They have a good Q&A section on the website that answers most common aircon questions.

Omega General Help / Trim removal - Facelift
« on: 12 August 2008, 10:58:56 »
What’s involved in changing the wood trim surround of the Radio/heater binnacle on a facelift?

I have a chip out of the finish where the car kit was fitted.

I am already stuck trying to get the ashtray cover off?

I have taken the ashcan out but can't see any obvious fixings.

Is this best left to someone who knows what they are doing?

Omega General Help / Re: Low beam F1T/vision
« on: 02 August 2008, 18:09:37 »
Many thanks, you were spot on.

The front sensor was in two halves, with the arm to the sensor lying on the wishbone and the snap-on connections to the suspension in a bit of a state.
However I have managed a temp fix by cleaning and greasing the connector link and cleaning the ball joint where the body and arm of the sensor come together and with a little grease snapped them back together again. The hydraulic effect of the new grease makes it very difficult to pull the parts apart and should last until I can obtain a spare.

The Low beam F1T/vision warning has gone.

Don't U Luv it when a plan comes together!
