IIRC the front foglight relay is under the dash with all the fuses, easiest way to check if its working is put your hand over the lot turn headlights on and press the front fog switch, if its working you should feel it "click" under your hand. unfortunately i cant remember for definate which one it is. (for some reason i think its in the bottom left corner of the block)

cant guarantee it will work matey, as only certain headunits will accept CDC's. the cable may be long enough but if not, just extend it using spare bits of wire as long as the solder joints are good and clean you shouldnt have any problems.

as for the location, you can pretty much choose where you want to put it. i know the saloon has it hidden behind the o/s cover in the boot. IIRC the estate has it just sat and fixed inside the boot.

and thirded. just repaired part of the loom on a car which had something similar done to it. except the owner boosted the rating of the fuse. to a somewhat diasterous end.

copper wire (used to bridge): 20p
cost to repair : £380

look on customers face when he saw the removed section of the loom (all black, rigid and stinky) due to his stupidity. PRICELESS....

i think the dimmer system only dims to a certain level (ie until it thinks the lamp is out) but with an LED bulb having considerably less resisitance than a normal fillament, it wont go out. this could be a load of tosh, but it makes sense in my head lol  

i have used the "festoon" type bulbs in mine with no problem though.

i whole-heartedly agree with you mark. which is why i do the majority of servicing myslef or entrust it to my mates garage if its too much for my limited mechanics skills. (avoiding main dealers like the plague) but if its electrical i feel pretty confident that there is very little on my motor i cant do  

if anyone is on here from my area, just for reference im in the skippers lane store

Halfords just send out monkey who aint even done his GCSE's yet, or better still failed them. Having said that i do know 1 guy in a Halfords store who actually knows his stuff, but he's rare. They generally don't have a clue!

have to say i partially agree tunnie, been both a customer and now part time fitter for halfords   (i know, but i needed extra £ to keep my megga otr over xmas),
However i (as far as im aware) am the only person to have done any accreditation from both VSIB and the IMI.   been doing audio, HF kits and "other projects" (see website) for about 4years now.
so i like to think i know my stuff too lol. but i do see your point with regards to the ones that are pretty dense when it comes to ICE and other bits.

best suggestion is have a dig on fleabay for a cradle that will fit your phone, most manufacturers plugs (that connect into the ECU of the kit) are the same no matter what cradle is supplied, guess it saves havin to make a load of diff plugs n stoof lol

those brackets are called "dashmount" strangely enough, i use them all the time for phone kits, LCD screens and radar detectors. http://www.dashmount.com but they kind of limit where you can put things and they tend to be a bit big for items ike the parrot kits. (not to mention quite pricey.)

just thought id throw my input your way guys. have been told that it is possible to turbo a VX V6  :-? using a saab turbo manifold??? i can understand if its from the saab with similar mechanicals to the veccy but surely it would cause premature wear to various engine parts or gaskets  :-/

pete. if the garage has quoted you 250 to swap out the engine, i would take james up on the offer of a new lump... IMO an easier option... albeit not cheaper...

if i could find a garage that would do an engine swap for that price, i would be using them rather than doin the swap myself (as it apears im goin to have to).

Omega General Help / gearbox refit

ok last job... engine is in... all connected (bar one vac pipe)... but the autobox isnt sitting right... (not to mention its an AR25   on a 3L). the box is sitting low. is it just a matter of lifting till the TC stump sits in the centre of the crank? Also whats the best way of lining up the TC bolt holes and those on the flywheel??

  ok. i have had no luck with the grease trick. i used a socket extention the only just fits in the hole, bashed it with a hammer and the bearing didnt budge... can the stub on the TC be milled down :question only need a few mm's seems to be where the stub bells out towards the end thats stoppin it....  :-/

dont have any of the bits (clutch slave cyl, pedal, plumbing....) plus im happt with the 3.0 and auto box. my 2.5 that i "played about with" was pretty quick and i intend to do the same with the 3   woooooosh past a lil saxo vtr/vts

yeah the engine was from a manual... how can i remove the spigot bearing?? been told to lathe down the stud from the front of the torque converter but bit dubious   will a haynes tell me how to remove the bearing  :-/
