Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Signal booster?
« on: 28 November 2008, 21:37:28 »
Hi All,
I'm asuming on an N plate Saloon the aerial is in the rear screen- has anyone had any issues with after market head units getting poor radio signals? I have fitted a Pioneer unit (which I have checked in another car, so is known good) and all it gets is radio 4... how/where/can i fit a inline signal booster?
Any other ideas?

I have had to get a new stereo for the meg (last owner decided to hack the loom about)
I got hold of a "SENDAi CD688" yeah, I know its pants but it wasn't expensive.
Only problem- it comes with no connectors- can anyone point me in the right direction as what may fit?
The connector is about 30mm by 10mm. with 2 rows of 10 pins, one row is devided into 2
heres a picture, its easier!

Any help would be greatfuly received!
Thanks!

Easiest way I know of finding air leaks is to lightly spray carb cleaner along each vac line in turn,
The other bits I'll leave to more knowledgeable folks .. :)

Daft Question- What Vac lines? Where?

Omega General Help / Air leak/EGR/AFS fault
« on: 27 November 2008, 19:24:40 »
Hi all,
I think I have a fault with the above- Paperclip code shows 73- air flow sensor low voltage.
Looking on here it appears the most likely causes are;

AFS broke
EGR valve stuck/broke
Air Leak

Could someone point me in the right direction of how to check for airleaks- what am I looking for and where?
Also is it posable to check the AFS and/or EGR without buying new ones?

Ta

Dan

If its likely to be a wire issue i guess i shouldn't rush out and buy a new one just yet?

Omega General Help / lightened flywheel
« on: 24 February 2008, 21:22:57 »
Hi all,
Courtenay's are advertising a lightened flywheel kit for the V6 or their website;
has anyone done this? any good? did you need to remap/mod to alter the idle speed, my thought being is the flywheel is heavy to keep the idle down to 480rpm, so surely taking 2/3's of the weight off it would make it a bit lumpy on tickover...

Interested to hear thoughts

Discus.

Omega General Help / 1996 elite auto- what spec?
« on: 19 December 2007, 12:37:31 »
Hi,
As my last meggy died :( i'm in the market for a new one- have seen the above on ebay, and was wondering what peeps could tell me about the auto boxes on them (my only experience of auto's is on trucks)
do they have sport/winter modes?
also, is it likely to have cruise?
what symptoms/noises should i be looking for (ie whats bad)?

thanks in advance, from one of the faithful looking to rejoin the fold :)

symptoms could be as you said- when mine packed up it wouldn't idle at all.
sounds like its sticking- take it off (front right of plenum as you look at it) soak it in carb cleaner, that might free it up. if not get another one, they are not too dear.

if its realy bad, you will notice it on the ground- the other test (i'm told) is bounce on the corner as if you were testing the shocks- again clunking bad.

sounds like wishbones to me- mine did the same- get them changed then get it tracked up or it will continue to eat tyres.

good test is try and rock the tyre top to bottom- excessive play/clunking good giveaway
