Just purchased 2 x 5ltrs VX 10W40 Semi (Ebay) - That should do.  Been 24 months since last service at VX.  I do less than 2k per year (did 850 miles last year !!!!) so better look after the 54k miles V6  and keep her sweet - Still like new really

Hi all.
Sounds simple question, but I have different opionins (Vauxhall Service desk and a Motor Factors) as to what oil to use when I do the Oil change this time. 

I have V plate 2.5V6 (Paper oil filter- last of Pre face lift models) and VX tell me to use 5W-30 Fully Synthetic, whilst everywhere else suggests 10W-40 Semi Sythetic ? ( I seemed to remember that the latter is what has always been in the car.

Which one is the correct one ? (if there is a correct answer !!!)

Hi all,
I have a 2000 V plate 2.5 V6 CDX that I have had from new (still only got 54k on clock  ) and am convinced the tracking is out.  I have cast my eye down the side of both sides of the car, and got my laser spirit level out  :-/  and have come to the conclusion it is definitely toeing out (small wear on inside of front tyres).
I am convinced that the tracking (for my Omega at least) has in fact never been right and I have read a few places that they were difficult to get right.
Are they problematic? and more importantly are there any places anybody would recommend I could perhaps take mine (in the North West / and Wirral area) to be check and hopefully set correctly.
Any advice gratefully received.

Hi all again,

Am I correct in that to remove the sump plug (in my 2.5V6) I need a T45 torx bit ?? 

A crawl under indicates it's a Torx one, but want to get the right size before I even try to remove it.

I asked the Stealers !!, and they said T45, but I don't trust them !!!

Hi all,

One question is does anybody know which way does the Star adjuster need to be turned to tighten up ?

The handbrake on my V6 finally needs doing (its never been done on this car and I've had car from new !) as I am on 9 notches, and was wondering if a couple of turns on the adjuster will just help.  I am prepared to go the whole hog (I did my Carltons handbrake a few years ago), but wondered  if I can get away with 2 or 3 Start Wheel adjuster on either side ?

Also, how long would you expect rear pads and shoes to last ?  I have just knotched up 54k mls so wonder if I just need to bike the bullet and replace ?

Thanks all for advice - Looks like Power Sounder it is , but at least I know how to lock car now without setting it off !!

I had posted another message, but I may as well mention it here ---- It was is the Vectra power sounder compatible with the Omega one ?   I can get a 2005 power sounder from a Vectra, but wondered if it would fit the Omega - Saves the hastle of surgery and battery de/soldering !!

Thoughts ?

Omega General Help / Alarm going off when car locked – Powersounder ?

Hi there. 
My dad has a Y plate (face lift model) Omega 2.2 Petrol Auto.  The alarm seems to keep going off now if the lock button on the keyfob is pressed once (just to lock) or twice (lock and set alarm).  It also does it if you lock with key in the door.  It appears to be random as to when it goes off, but it appears to do it less if we put the main car battery on charge.
The conclusion is that the internal batteries in the Power Sounder are on the way out.  On the facelift one I belive these are the Varta 3.6 V Memtec type and soldered onto the board in the power sounder (2 of them needed and hacksaw to open sounder).  If the pre facelift Omega the I believe the batteries are the button type.
Is this a sign of the Powersounder batteries on the way out if the alarm keep going off.  There are NO fault codes recorded and the alarm sets OK when it works.

Is there a way to set it with the car alarm and deadlocks on WITHOUT the power sounder going off !!  Opening the rear passenger door and locking manually by pressing pip on the drivers door works, but it doesn’t set the alarm or deadlock.

Does anybody know of the Vectra Power Sounder (a 2005 vintage) is compable with a Y Plate Facelift Omega 2.2 Petrol auto ?

I've seen one for sale so wondered if its compatible so just plug Vectra one in ?  (Saved hacksawing old one and replacing batteries ?)

Any thought greatefully recieved.

HI all,

I have offered to change my dads indicator stalk on his Face lift omega 2.2Petrol CD, to one with Cruise control (I have a new Stalk for him).

Is it easy to change the stalks ?  It it as simple as taking off the Cowel (few swrews underneith it, and two looking at you in the face ?) and un clipping old and clipping new one on (remembering to connect the 4 wire Criuse control wire to the only vacent plug there ??)  I trust it should be obvious where to plug the new Cruise control wire to in the steering column ?

Just need then to get VX garage to enable Crusie control by plugging it inot their computer I understand then ?

Is it this simple, or is something sinister waiting for me ?

Also, he is getting on average 20mpg   (I can get over 30 on my 2.5 V6 CDX   )  There is a split in the large air duct pipe so I have a new one to fit - I trust that will help the MPG and maybe sort the Engine light which occasionally comes on ? (I think its the Engine electronics, transmission electronics, immobilizer - The car with the spanner on it) ?
