Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Problems with HID light
« on: 04 May 2008, 20:56:46 »
Hi all,
I have recently been having problems with my HID lights, the bulbs were only 6 months old and i had replaced the ballast unit 6 months ago as well, albeit second hand ones.

the passenger side started to fail again, when I took the bulb out this is what I found.

Has anyone come across a similar thing, is it a common problem?? :-?

Probably a daft question but have you tryed the reset, holding the Auto and Off buttons in for 10s??

Every so often mine stays warm or not as cold as you would expect, it just needs resetting and its fine again.

Omega General Help / Help!! car is dead. :-(
« on: 07 March 2008, 07:45:30 »
Ive been away for a month working and when I got back I tried to get into the omega, the remote didnt work and the key does nothing in the drivers lock so I cant get in!!

I suspect the battery has gone flat, although normally it is ok and its a new one, may have left something on ::)

How can I get into the car to open the bonnet if the key doesnt open it??  (it turns forward one click and back two clicks.)

any ideas??
Cheers. :-[

Omega General Help / Re: My misfire has returned

could it be the crank sensor??

my car had similar problems and i remembered that when James 'The Boy' last looked at my car he suggested that my crank sensor might be on its way out, sure enough few months later the omega developed an intermitant miss fire which gradually got worse.

changed the crank sensor and shes like a new car again.   :y

It sounds like you might have a dodgy ecu on the 98 car, that would explain the gearbox and fob problem, dont know how easy it is to replace though? :-/

Iirc sometimes the air-recircultion flap doesnt reset properly and this can cause the windows to mist, try turning the air-recirculation switch on and straight off again so it resets the flap.

It might work, not sure though. ::)

I had the cam belt slip on my Omega which resulted in a lot of mechanical noise, still ran ok though, no warning lights and it idled fine, just really really noisy, had the belt and tensioners replaced and it was fine.

its a gamble but before scrapping it I would think about changing the belts and tensioners, make sure its all timed up properly and if your lucky it'll be ok :y

I managed to get a similar system to Miggy and the sensors came more or less the same colour as the car (Blue), fitted the display just in front of my MID, works a treat, well worth getting if your ok fitting stuff like that. :y

Omega General Help / Re: the TC button on the Dashboard
« on: 21 November 2007, 19:05:40 »

When you press your TC switch a light comes on on your dash which means the Traction control has been disabled.

The Traction control always defaults to ON when you turn your ignition on, you have to manually turn it OFF using the switch, I think the idea is for if you get you car stuck in mud/snow you can disable the tc. ::)

Hope this helps :y

As dbug says pessing TC turns the traction control off, you should get a warning light on on your dash, you will really only notice a difference in the wet, without TC the car will wheelspin easily.  ::)

Omega General Help / Re: Aircon (good time of year for this one)
« on: 19 November 2007, 18:05:03 »
I had my aircon re gassed and it worked fine after, they also checked for leaks aswell.

If you switch your aircon on your revs should go up slightly, press ECO and they should drop back down, that'll tell you the pump is kicking in, have you also tried reseting the servo's aswell?

Its recomended that the Aircon should be run on cold at least once a week for 5-10 mins just to stop the gas settling in the system, I would go for the re gas and chance it.
