Problems with HID light

Hi all,
I have recently been having problems with my HID lights, the bulbs were only 6 months old and i had replaced the ballast unit 6 months ago as well, albeit second hand ones.

the passenger side started to fail again, when I took the bulb out this is what I found.



Has anyone come across a similar thing, is it a common problem?? :-?

That looks very much like arcing due to inferior materials.  Were the parts genuine Vx ones? :-? :-?

I had one where the connectors managed to bend slightly and were close to touching, caused some burning but noticed it in time and all was well :) I guess this is what happens if a problem goes undetected lol :)

Which brand were they? Just so that we know to avoid :)
Have some cheapies on my radar at the mo  ;D
