Omega General Help / Re: tickover too fast
« on: 24 April 2010, 15:45:57 »
hi guys thanks for your input and i will take your advice. where would i find this blue/grey connector, after checking this i will chase down any air leak.    just been out to car the servo pipe to plenum is fastened up tight on the union     but   the actual hose itself can be twisted round a bit,,, if it leaked from here i would have different symptoms like hunting and hard brakes, yes/no   Right then weather permitting I'll set out my stall tomorrow morning and get this sorted if someone can tell me where the blue/grey connector is i will kill or cure the beasty.  cheers lads   I let you know when found culprit thanks. :y :y :y

now i have had suggetions i did open the butterflies by hand to take them out to clean they were very blackened.I have no cable or throttle stop on this car it is a 2.6 auto all i have is the electrical connection and at the side there is some thing behind a black plate with something that i can only describe as ventilation appatures around it. 2moz i think i will get the hands mucky again and check out all your suggestions, check vac pipes, air intake to plenum and seals, Andy when said possible coolant sensor disconnected do you mean the temp gauge i think i saw it at the back of inlet manifold.the temp gauge reads just as it did before, i think we may be on to something there as it runs at the same engine speed hot and cold, or have i damaged something when taking out the butterflies to clean,.

I don't know what the error code meant, but ,I tried  an off chance and disconnected my battery to maybe see if computer resets and when i connected the battery started my car and wallah then light went out. take it for a run i thought to maybe set things up with new settings , 150 miles on and still no light staying on,, fingers crossed hope it stays that way... any comments.. is it likely that its cured or is there a chance of a relapse. cheers guys...... :D :D ;D ;D :y :y

Omega General Help / engine management light 2.6
« on: 25 February 2010, 20:26:26 »
I'm sure there is someone here who can help me with my 2.6 facelift problem, This week I've done the cam gaskets, cleaned out all breather parts, replaced Hbv,aux belt, timing belt, and all tensioners and water pump, cleaned all parts even rapped black tape round the wires in the right carrier, renewed the aunty's knees, put in the water, ran the engine for a while  and topped up when cold, ran very well (a bit fast now on tick over, hope that will alter after on run out) Very proud of myself i am, got up this morning went three miles down the road to shops, running great it was, came out of shop started car and the engine management light is on, check all connections i could see and what i disconnected during work no change, got home let it cool down and checked again still the same.  Can anyone help me in English all these abbrevs mean nowt to me can someone tell whats what. This car has more sensors and computers than pcworld. plz can someone point me in the right direction. i can't understand, when the car is running well and there is a light telling me its not. Thanks Guys :'(
