Really? Why? Because of who he is?

If you've never felt that heart-stopping panic grip you when you realise your child isn't where you thought they were then I'm glad for you.

I have and it's not pleasant.

not the same thing......he has security staff with him to make sure the family is safe......we dont

Please excuse me for being blunt, but that's got to be the most crass and idiotic statement - possibly ever!

What difference does having securiity staff make to how it feels when you realise your child isn't where you thought he/she was??

Superb work on your intervention Phi you did the right thing.  Not all forms of analgesia (pain relief) are pharmacutical.  Psycological anagesia works just as well, distract him from the pain by talking about other things can work just as well believe it or not.  Physical analgesia, such as you did by putting your hand in the way, is the third type.  Maybe you missed your calling as a paramedic?!  ;)

For what he did, the guy deserves to be locked away for a long time, but because our justice system sees cylists in some way to blame for being killed and maimed by motorists (I assume just by having the gall to be obtuse and use the same road space as a motorist) and he will get a slap on the wrist and be told not to do that again.. what a naughty boy!

Phil, for your actions, from a medic and a cyclist, you have my eternal respect  :y

Are you perchance claiming that no cyclist is ever at fault??  :o

I have personally witnessed cyclists:

- riding at night with no lights, and wearing dark clothing
- riding on the footpath (one even had the nerve to ring his bell at me when he rode up behind me as I was walking to work - although I suppose I should be thankful he had a bell on his bike as -)
- not having a bell or other warning device
- ignoring red ATS and pedestrian crossings
- riding the wrong way down one-way streets
- riding on the main carriageway on a busy 60mph limit road when there is a seperate cycle lane running along the side of the road (not illegal I know, just stupid, imo)

A couple of years ago a lad was riding his bike at speed along the footpath not far from my house, when he got to the corner at a T-junction he shot straight out into the road in front of a car. I suppose that was the car driver's fault too?

Too many cyclists behave as though they are not subject to any road laws.

BTW, I am a cyclist, motorcyclist and car driver, obviously not all at the same time...

here I must note, in capitalist system, its a proven historical fact that it repeats crisis periodically because whatever solutions applied even "socialist" precautions (which I must say it gives life breath to the system temporarily  ;) ) , wont solve anything permanently because the system itself turns back to original state and starts the whole cycle of pumping money in upwards direction in the pyramide and soon lower sections start to collapse and the whole later..  ::)

Whereas socialist systems are permanently in crisis.  :y

The reversing sensor system on my mig has gone dead - no beeps, no buzzing sensors when the resistor pack is removed and reverse engaged. Zip. Zero. Zilch. The reversing lights work so I assume the unit is getting power. I've checked the wiring as much as I can.  :(

General Car Chat / Re: I love this Morris Marina
« on: 02 June 2012, 20:33:59 »
A great many moons ago I had a Marina as a courtesy car while my Mini was in the body shop. I still shudder when I think of it.

Handling? I wished it had some.... Great handfuls of steering wheel just to get the bloody thing to deviate slightly off line.

Perhaps the phrase "Marina as a courtesy car" is a bit of an oxymoron. Height of insult, more like...

Update - 27 miles after filling up with Tesco's premium fuel (Momentum) the EML has gone out.  :y

Just shows how sensitive the pre-cat sensor arrangement is on these things...

OP said £35 + VAT, no one else has specified whether their prices are with or without VAT.

I had the a/c tested and recharged (with oil and dye) at a local, and long-established, vehicle electrics and a/c specialist last week, they also charged £35 + VAT.

Heard on the radio this morning that, if pump prices had moved with the price of oil we'd be paying about £1.20 a litre  :-\

I sometimes wonder how we motorists can sit down, we get shafted so much.... >:(

Would the PIR-activated ultrasonic deterrents be effective against badgers?

I've had one in my garden (ultrasonic unit, not a badger) for quite some time now and have not had any recurrence of cat and fox nuisance.

Just to add, I've done a bit more digging on the web, seems to be mainly related to 1.9 manuals...? If so, I should be ok  :-\
