Omega General Help / Re: Start-up lumpy idle on 2.2
« on: 29 May 2010, 11:31:41 »
Hello Guys

I went through this a few weeks ago, fitted new plugs, changed coil pack no better, unplugged maf sensor no change, fitted rear exhaust still  no better but noisier than the one the idiots at the exhaust place knocked a hole in.
Then after trawling the forum I decided to risk a dealer MAF sensor 114 squids. Immediate cure, seemingly the ebay ones are not always worth the hassel.
Its a pity I dont live near you guys it would be easy to swap the new one to establish if it was the maf or not.
Good luck happy hunting I was also ready to get rid of the car.

Omega General Help / Re: front door solenoid failure
« on: 29 May 2010, 11:45:40 »
Hi Guys

I had this problem a few months ago, I removed the solenoid/motor I didnt have a replacement so put it all back together and it was worse than previously.
I read on the forum somewhere a guy had soaked it with WD40 and worked it manually for a while and it was fine.
So I took off the door panel again but this time left the solenoid/motor in situ and sprayed it with WD40 + worked it using the manual door lock lever/button lots of times, hey presto saved me 74 squids for a new one. Its still fine 2 months later.
There is a good guide to removing the door panel is on the forum.

Omega General Help / Re: Fitting new wishbones

I found if I left the front chassis unfixed & pushed the strut backwards it gave me a little bit more play to insert the ball joint. Like you I had to struggle maybe there is as you say a bit of a difference in the flange which exagerates at the ball joint. Good luck not easy thats for sure.

Omega General Help / Re: No throttle control, Help please
« on: 10 May 2010, 18:18:13 »
Hello Folks
I have resolved the throttle problem, I took the solenoid to bits to check if anything mechanical could have come apart, all seemed OK. I put it all back together & it works fine, with a bit of luck it will stay that way.
Now I am back to the original problem misfiring.
I have changed the plugs & booked in for a  new exhaust tomorrow.
I will let you know how it goes, I see lots of misfire problems at the moment maybe someone will  find the real common fault.

Omega General Help / No throttle control, Help please
« on: 09 May 2010, 16:21:44 »
Any advice gratefully recieved!
It started with misfiring when the car was cold, engine warning light coming on, hand held codes = O2 sensor fault which cleared. Then the misfire got worse, I cleaned the throttle assembly, & associated breather pipework.
When I refitted the throttle assembly initially there was control, then a backfire and steady revs @ 12000rpm.
The hand held came up with throttle minimum position not found, service required on throttle assembly & no MAF flow.
When I reset the codes there is throttle control, if I switch off the engine its back to 12000 revs.
I have trawled the forum for similar problems there are a few with various solutions, change MAF, O2 sensor.
My fear is that the throttle position sensor has failed when I cleaned the assembly 240 on ebay for a replacement.
The fact it resets could be 2 things (I think)
1 the reset overrides the logic in the ECU and allows a start.
2 the ECU has lost the signal from the TPS & requires to be reloaded, is this possible? maybe a dealer job?
Any advice welcome, thanks in advance.
