Back on topic  ;D

The donor car was indeed mine - Lotus Omega 0128D. The guy that was doing the project was a millionaire and had a bunch of cars including another Senator, a Lotus Carlton (that Dave K ended up buying), an Audi A8 and a Maserati Quattroporte.

The LHD car was stripped of the necessary parts and they were grafted in to the Senator. The rear bumper certainly wouldn't be of any use to a Carlton owner as it was lengthened to fit the Senator.

The shell of 0128D was indeed re-built with a new bulkhead and converted to RHD with parts from a smashed up car (a latish LC IIRC). The last time that 0128D surfaced was over 10 years ago at Trax and the guy left early as it started to smell of (electrical burning) smoke  :-[

if anyone is genuinely interested in buying the LS, I can give some insight into it during my (well, Bob's) ownership. The auto box definitely suits  it - the acceleration is seamless without the need to interrupt proceedings in order to change gear.

Well, it's certainly generated interest, that's for sure. The gearbox alone was, if I remember right, something a but special, which took a while to get right (or even custom build rings a bell?) Good to hear you're about, James! Please give my kindest regards to your old man, for me. See you both at Billing soon  :y.

Thanks for the welcome back.  ;D

Likely to be here more again now. Sense and wisdom (aka middle age) have caught up with me and I waved goodbye to my 7 Series last weekend and will pressing the Steinmetz Omega back in to occasional service now when the wife's car isn't available. After 3 1/2 years in 'the care' of my parents, it needs some work - a list that is ever growing  :(

ahh, good stuff! Not a BMW man, but nothing wrong with a 7 series. Would be good to see more of the 'VT' for sure. the PFL club is an ever-shrinking one.  :)
