I have a Discovery and the wife has the omega now. This week it was the only way to get to work and take the lads in as well as the normal cars they have just would not do it. On Wednesday i pulled another car out after it was stuck in the snow i also took a few co-workers home as it was the only way. For this i should pay more tax! No. It is a 2000 reg and does not come under the new tax law. I did not ask one penny from any of them as i would like to think they would do the same for me if i needed help.

...and from a safety point of view, simply a must have for the mummy on the urban school run, to protect the kids in the event of a collision with one of the many large 4x4 go-anywhere, all terrain, off road vehicles that always seem to be around at urban school run time.

In certain areas. Certainly not in mine.

We drive what we drive for various reasons, and there are also poor drivers to be found in every type of vehicle.

It has been known for me to be flinging an Omega down a twisty lane at ten tenths. Probably just as ridiculous a sight given that it's a vehicle more suited to eating miles on an autobahn at three figure speeds.

If the government / green lobby / whoever had succeeded in persuading all 4x4 owners off the road with their taxes and mud slinging we'd have been in a much worse state this last week, that's for sure.

In general the 4 x 4 owners have done a sterling job in helping others down here. But I did come across a guy taking advantage of the situation. He was cruising up and down Southwick hill and approaching stranded cars charging £10 a go to tow them up the hill if they got stuck. No tenner no tow. Fair enough for covering cost of diesel but I think he was being a bit excessive. :o :o

There's good and bad in every walk of life, the thread was about 4x4's and that's my opinion of a fair few 4x4 owners (not all) in my area.
I know one owner that would do absolutely anything for anyone, and not ask for a penny. I could phone him and say I'm stuck 200 miles away and he'd come to help, but as a rule around here, especially the pillocks with the "blinged up" shiny black vehicles with big rims and low profile tyres (w.t...?!?) that would never dream of getting it dirty, I have no time for them what so ever.

Ahh. Got you. I know the type. :y They'd be as much use as a choccy fireguard in the snow anyway with their 285/35VR22s on.  ;D

That's up to £30300 at the mo. Dont think I'd chance that kind of money on ebay.

That depends on the chance of how many lost rocks you might find down the back of the seats to offset the purchase price ::)

Yep, that's the kind. Tossers !
This afternoon at Dyfatty lights, Swansea (Plomien will know the ones), there was LWB Shogun three cars back in the queue to turn right, the driver was blasting his horn and flashing his lights at the cars in front to go. Next thing, he pulls into the left hand "straight ahead only" lane, undertakes the two cars and cuts across to turn down onto New Cut Rd. Obviously unaware that if the green arrow is not illuminated, he's running a red light.
What a Pajero !! ;D
