Main problem I'll have is I want something that tows properly, and is NOT a 4X4.

I want rear wheel drive, as I'm often parked on grass with a 'van attached.

I want a maximum authorised weight of around 2200 kgs

I want a maximum authorised train weight of around 4000 kgs

I want LPG for economy

I want at least 200 BHP (plus a little more if possible) to enable me to make "good progress" whilst towing without having to rag it off the rev counter.

Not many cars fit that list...

5 series BMW
Older Mercedes
Older Jags

Omega <------  Perfect ..  :)

Looks like I'll be keeping this one a while :)

There are a few I would have, problem is a few cars I like are now getting old so no point.

Anyway BMW 5 series either 3.0 TD or a largish 6 on LPG
VXR8 - again LPG it
Diseisel XKF.

THese are the cars I am watching the S/H prices on.

My Omega will be 10 in March 2011, I reckon I'll need to look at a replacement 2012 to 2014 :( :(

I'm not sure what to get next in all honesty. It'll probably be FWD due to not wanting to pay the costs of a 5 series. I wouldn't mind one, but having seen a mint Focus turned into a wreck through parking it in public car parks..... your outlook is changed :( The amount even independants charge is obscene.

I'll probably stay petrol (for lpg) and look along the lines of Skoda or Volvo. That being said, with the mileage I'm doing I think the miggy will survive another 1.5 - 2 years (but it is likely to be over 200k). Who knows, if another good one comes up  :y

If, and only IF I cant replace my Omega with a suitable nice example, I'll just revert back to my mint Cavalier Diplomat.

There is nothing out there I 'fancy' which will do the job of replacing the Mig within a reasonable budget.

Theres always a Transit jumbo van with a 3.2ltr TDCi 200ps 470nm engine! Wouldn't need the caravan as you could sleep in the van  ;D

In its day, the Vauxhall Omega was, I believe, known as the fastest depreciating car ever put onto the British market.  I'm not sure if that applied throughout the range, or was only specific models.  But I wouldn't buy a new one.

Fortunately the Omega wasn't the fastest depreciating car in the UK, that was 'owned' by the Fiat Croma/ Lancia Thema.

The Vectra B was worse than the Omega, actually think the Omega did quite well compared to alot of others

Well I just had to join in on this thread,my son is in South Africa right now on a months holiday.
I have been driving his Pug 206 Hdi 2lt,used everyday, its a rattle trap smelly, small uncomfortable,BUT its so cheap to run, easy to park in the smallest of spaces, and really nippy of the mark.
It has to go when the son arrives home,as its been shunted and the insurance has wrote it off has a uneconomic repair,I think I'm going to miss it.

Skoda Superb for me...  Do it as an estate with a good economic diesel engine, which isn't extortionate on the Tax...

I'll have a look at the Chrysler 300 CRD estate when they drop a bit more.
