Omegas - what next?
« on: 22 September 2010, 21:06:21 »

I love my Omegas, just as I loved my Senators and Cavalier. I have a soft spot for all Vauxhalls. I can however see my Migs for what they are, 10 year old Vauxhalls, but still I love them.

I intend on keeping them as long as possible, but inevitably there will come a sad day when my dearly beloved and I part company. :'(

Just wondering what people are going to replace them with when they and their Omegas part company? A similar sort of car? Or something small and cheap to beat these green taxes imposed on us by the robots running the country?

I'm contemplating a Monaro, but this obviously isn't an everyday car, is there a credible successor? (not necessarily Vx?)

I like the fact migs are rwd, but i don't suppose it makes a difference to everyday driving. BTW, are Lexus is/gs 430 whatever they're called (the big ones rwd?

If vauxhall still made omegas, and they cost anything from £20,000 to £32,000, would you have a brand new one?

Dependant on the engines. I honestly think the Omega lacked a 6 cylinder diesel, and a V8.

I suspect my next car will be a very small, horrible diesel of some description. :(

In its day, the Vauxhall Omega was, I believe, known as the fastest depreciating car ever put onto the British market.  I'm not sure if that applied throughout the range, or was only specific models.  But I wouldn't buy a new one.

When my Omega finally falls apart, I'm going to get the cheapest XJ8 I can find and watch that fall apart in the driveway, 'cos I won't be able to afford to tax or drive it. :)  Or anything else, for that matter. :)

I like them a lot, my 93 was lovely, best seats I've had in any car, I'd have another any day. The TTiD is stupidly fast too  :y
