Mine failed it's MOT on no water. It had water but the filter was blocked,

I was fortunate then, It worked for the MOT and then didnt work the next try.  I can hear the pump ok, so it's got to be the filter.

 2 min fix skruntie, just have the hose ready to refill it LOL

I would whip the pump out, flush the tank, clean the filter.

If that doesnt improve things, check nothing is crushing the wiper hose, and maybe fit a non return valve in the pipe as well

Me doing anything on a car, I DONT THINK SO.

5 mins and I drop a cloth or the leather, spill the polish, catch the door mirror, next thing I would be picking up the hammer and doing a Leepu (chop shop garage)and redesigning the bonnet and wings.

The problem is I dont have Leepu's vison or talent, so you might come up with a Miggy but you might go home in a TopGear style designed car. (Probably the one built out of washing machines and tumble drier's)

I had the dash warning up on my elite some time ago and kept filling it up every week. Turned out that the previous owner may have taken out the pumps to clean filters and didn't put it back properly and it had a slow leak. As it was over the winter months i didn't notice it as the roads were mainly wet most of the time. When i did notice the leak i took out both pumps, one for screens and the other for headlights, and cleaned filters and replaced properly. no probs since then. Only a 10 min job to do both.

how do you clean the filters? i've got the bottle out at the moment due to accident so might as well spruce it up while it's in bits

ok read the maintainence guide - should the headlight wash pump (the bigger of the two) have a filter coz mine hasn't?

No, there is only a filter on the windscreen pump.  Just a big grommit for the HID pump
