Is the disspack hard to get off have been told bolts can be awkward

not hard, just fiddley...

When I did one,

scuttle off,
plenum off
you can now access the bolts / leads etc
undo em all,
feed the dis round past the hbv, and you will eventually have room to get it out, put the new one in the same, and do it all up again.

box of plasters at the ready.

Make sure your swear box is empty before you start as well. :y :)

lot more acces can be gained with wiper motor and linkage removed...only a few extra screw bolts but does help alot.
I also removed the HBV when I last worked on mine as all the extra clear space does make the final routing of cables much better...and it is a good chance to replace coolant if more than a year old.
