As mentioned in a previous post, the check control is throwing up a coolant level warning on startup, even if the coolant level is correct.

I've been told that this means the sensor is knackered, and the only remedy is to replace the whole header tank.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed?

Failing that, does anyone have a replacement header tank going spare? My tank is really clean, so is there anyway of swapping the level sensor over?

they can occasionally be removed, but not officially.

more break than come out in one piece.

You can short the sensor to get rid of the warning, but obviously no longer have the alert function.

new tanks about £30 iirc

I think Jaime (theboy) has managed to swap the sensor but a new bottle is only about £30

twiglet, before doing anything else.... pull off the metal sprung clip fastening the bottle to the car & push the bottle towards the engine by about 25mm to free it from its fixing points, then have a look underneath the bottle to check the sensor plug has not just worked itself loose! I had the self same issue & it was the plug not a faulty sensor. HTH

Just to confirm thou, the warning comes up at startup only.  It says 'coolant level' and then underneath it says 'ok'.

Is this definately a failure, or is it just a system check?

It goes away if you acknowledge it and doesn't return until the next time you startup.

How do you guys get on getting bits at trade price from them?

I've found that being politely cheeky helps when ordering parts at the Dealers, I tell them I prefer to use their parts for the quality but can't justify the expense and then ask them if they can give me a discount... they always do.
